I just did a quick search in this forum on "Lowes nepenthes" and found more than 200 threads. You might find some useful information there.

It looks fine. The wilting you noticed is the loss of water from transpiration which is basically evaporation from the leaves. Your plant will adapt and perk up in a couple of weeks. That appears to be a ventricosa red, which is still alata x ventricosa but with much more ventricosa. They are adaptable and can grow well in 40% humidity. Watering should be often enough to keep the moss damp, but not standing in more than 1/2 inch of water. If you want a flava, which is a type of american pitcher plant, I have one for the price of postage.

My Lowes Ventrara took about 6 months to recover from it's shock, but after doing so really started to take off -- until I moved to a new apartment, which set it back for another 2 months.

Just make sure you're giving it the right water and temperatures and it should recover in a few weeks.

I also bought one from Lowes..for the same reason..I also wanted the challenge..but i odont have the option of keeping mine inside..i have mine outside with my VFT, sundew, and pitcher plant..will it survive in full sun?

Here in Michigan, we had the same problem.

My mom got one of these in a loose, 8" tall, plastic dome-thing from a friend. She put it in mostly full sun on same window-table as her VFT (from same friend... grrrrahh) and pinched off a dying pitcher (turning black). I told her to do it because AFAIK most plants do better when dying blooms and leaves are taken off and there are 4 other pitchers on same small plant (but I MAY be wrong here?).

And she moved it to a "bright, indirect sun" (as directed by others here in different thread) table only a couple feet away from original spot. It's too soon to tell if it did good right now. We'll be placing both outside once 40F is far and gone (hit 30F last night, GRR).

Most pitchers want rain or distilled water ONLY. Tap water is a definite no no, as well as well water. The other carnivores are not as particular. Always keep them on the wet side, except in winter when they want a drier dormancy. Hope this helps.

I was tending my daughter's Nepenthes which was not doing very well, part of the stem had turned brown. I did't think to look for a GW carnivore forum until now, but I had it hanging around in the kitchen and it got some pitchers but most were turning black, so I hung it on my aquaponics system (using fish water pumped through a gravel growbed for fertilizer) over an aquarium, and started giving it dirty fish water nearly every day, just a squirt. It kept one pitcher all winter and was growing a new branch and lots of new leaves with little starts of pitchers on the ends. Then my daughter decided she wanted it back and took it, so I'm thinking of going to Lowe's to check them out if there are any. But mine seemed to do great on the fish water, which came from our well but went through a filter, and had fish wastes....?

Would I have had trouble down the line?

If it works it works. The stem browning is completely natural. The leaves are supposed to die as they age. Two things that you might have to watch out for down the line are soil breakdown and a lack of light. The nutrients found in the water might cause your media to break down faster. Hanging above the aquarium doesn't sound very bright. How many hours of light does it get? Is it from sunlight or artificial light?

I'm thinking now after reading more that I should have taken a cutting from the long branch to remove the brown part of the stem and tried to propagate a new plant/s from hers, especially since whatever she does with it will probably not be as good. And it was said that that would increase branching from the base. My aquaponics system has lights and a pvc framework I was hanging the Nep on, in addition to the artificial light there is some sun coming in too as it is a west-facing window, especially there is more as it gets to be summer. Having it over the aquarium would make the humidity higher, I assume. The plant seemed happy and was making lots of new growth and pitchers were starting.
