I must applaud your dueling victory with the red spiders, insects, and worms! Haha. This might be obvious, but I just want to make sure your not one of those people who think bonsai is an indoor accessory. In other words, keep it outside. Some azaleas are late bloomers, while others may have bloomed already. I can't give you much advice otherwise, as you live on the other side of the planet as me. Also, I am not an expert. I have a similar situation, and remember reading about the practice of lifting the bulbs when they go dormant (I've always forgotten about mine at that point, so have never actually attempted this) and placing a flat stone under each one to encourage it to bloom rather than proliferate vegetatively. Supposedly this keeps them from pulling themselves deeper into the soil via contractile roots, which is a deterrent to blooming. My experience with some Amaryllids has been the exact opposite (deeper planting discourages them from splitting, thus making them more likely to bloom), so who knows? It might be worth a shot.

I just read through it all too and would be really interested in it if it wasn't $60. I have several areas around our new place where I'd like to know more about the soil conditions (esp. regarding drainage), so if it was within my "impulse-without-guilt" price range I would definitely try it. Something amusing - the line that says, "How can I end gardening by trial and error?" makes me cringe just a little... I actually LOVE the trial and error aspect of gardening. It's what helps me learn and get better results over time. That said, I can see how this could provide some valuable information. Love that it connects to the computer - I notice the photo doesn't show garden dirt all over the table next to the computer though, which is certainly what you'd have in real life if you had just pulled it out of the soil! LOL

But not as nice as the sleeping Bud. CUTE!!

I am with Mike...ENVY all the way. But hopes are high that SOME buds might actually become blossoms if the bugs don't devour them all the time.

Replanted Andrew's Gold today. He just looked SO unhappy and the leaves kept turning yellow more and more. Boy I hope I saved him by doing that today. ONE single stem and if he does not make it..he is gone :-( My first love. The roots have just rotted away...I believe it had to do that he froze to the soil level. Then in spring when he started to grow...the BAD part of the rotten stem, rotted down to the roots. Just what I am THINKING what happened.

So I continue to enjoy and be happy with everyone that does get to enjoy your angels in blooms.

Lucy yes white zinna. Someone sent the zinna seeds for my BD.
But its the only white one a have.

The sleeping Bud was worn out by the two older Buds. LOL
The marker mustache was done with a erasable marker.
They were trying to upset their Uncle, It Worked! LOL

The Angels were blooming when I left for NC.
By the time we got back they were about finished.

Uncle needs to learn to see the humor in things I guess lol

I like the white. Does it bloom constantly? Tall? Bushy? I had bought a green one called Envy. It looks pretty but as for growing nicely like a pretty bushy plant...or blooming more then every once in a while...NOTHING . SO maybe it needs more sun but not one I need to have again next year.

Love all of your blooms and your little bud! How sweet. The copper plant is interesting. I am trying to remember if the ones I have seen had that much variegation? I like it!
