I think I'm losing my willow. : (

I planted a blue arctic willow about 10 years ago and it's done just fine until this year. It's been gradually dying from the ground up since spring and now just has a few green leaves near the top. I think it must have some kind of disease.

I watched a viceroy fluttering around it for quite awhile last week and she looked like she was depositing eggs or at least trying to find a place to. Made me sad. : ( I'm not going to have a host plant for my viceroys and red spotted purples next year.

I want to get another willow, maybe Black Willow if it will do ok here. I'm afraid it will need a lot of water though. I know there are some people in this forum that grow it so I'd like to hear how yours are doing. How drought tolerant is it? Is there another willow that you're finding cats on that I should investigate?
