Identity of Nepenthes in 6-inch hanging pot?

Hi,

I just bought a Nepenthes at a florist in Palo Alto. The tag says it's from Nurseryman's Exchange (Half Moon Bay, CA) but doesn't give a name for the plant other than "Nepenthes".

I've seen similar or identical plants at other places which say they are Nepenthes alata. Do I remember correctly that such plants are generally N. x ventrata (N. ventricosa x N. ventrica)? Would this be the general "guess"?

I can always contact Nurseryman's Exchange--even though they are a wholesaler they were very helpful in the past. However, if the general tendency is to call this plant N. alata I suspect that might be in their records as well.

No pitchers, by the way, not even dried up...

I've already split the plant up into one larger plant, one smaller and one very small "cutting" with few or no roots. It looked like the plant originally derived from two cuttings in rockwool. I'm keeping the big plant inside, the smaller outside to what I think is a frost-free spot.
