RFla, what a sweet, sweet post!! I remember all those feelings when my baby -- the only boy after two girls -- left for college. I though I'd never recover! He's now 37, with a sweet wife, a 6-year old and 2-year old twins of his own, so he's experiencing the overwhelming love I felt for him. It sounds as if you're doing it exactly right -- you've raised him to have both roots and wings, and that's not an easy balance to achieve. You're making it "easy" for him to leave home -- which is healthy and appropriate -- yet making it clear that he's still a huge part of your heart and your home. You're helping and supporting, and I'm sure you'll find it possible to gradually back away as he achieves more and more independence. My daughters both moved away from us after marriage . . . and now, after 15 and 19 years, we'll all be building homes next door to one another on a Tennessee ridge. Having established their independence by living away from us, they're now able to reconnect without feeling stifled. We're enormously excited about having them and half of our grandchildren next door!! Treasure the past, enjoy the bittersweet moment, and look forward to an exciting future.

Chickadee2, I live in Birchrunville! The Cafe is a huge foodie restaurant(egullet loves them) and well worth the wait time.(People come from all over, mostly NYC for the Chef's menu...it's very cool to see the gazillions of various wines opened to try with each course. I feel so pedestrian bringing a single bottle of red:) ) The homes here are beautiful, you can still get a rare old beauty for around 300,000 without much land. But saying that, there's far more approaching 1 million to 4million. B'ville is very much a hidden secret, but it's a place where the hunt still goes off several times a week, hot air balloons fly over, carriages with matched horses share the road with walkers and bikes, people making stone sculptures randomly, and the denizens make british people look far less charming and eccentric:) I'm attaching a link to a realtor who has some B'ville property. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, but as it turned out, Sony decided not to send anyone to Toronto and is going to let the staff in Toronto work it out on their own without a director. I guess that is one way for them to save money. So I will wait for warmer weather before I visit Toronto, and Kevin will not be there, unless he goes with me. Last week a friend asked me to go to Brazil with him some time next year after April. He has to settle an estate there, and he knew that I could take the time off. We'll see if that materializes. I would like to visit Brazil, but I've been afraid to go because I do not speak Portuguese, but my friend does, and that would make me feel more comfortable. He will be mainly going to Rio de Janeiro, but would be making side trips to Petrópolis and other places.
