'Mars Rose'? Is that a made-up name? :)

I picked up several brugs from a fairly decent, very popular local nursery a month ago- a simple pink, 'Super Nova', and this guy, labeled 'Mars Rose'. It was the last to bloom- but I was happy with the rewards! The other two bloomed exactly how they were supposed to, according to their labels. I just can't find anything relating to a brugmansia named 'Mars Rose'. Maybe I don't know where to look? Is there a hybrid registration process- like with orchids?

I checked the Brug Gallery and the Family Tree at BGI.There is nothing there on 'Mars Rose'.Maybe an ABADS member can check their gallery for you.Whatever,it's a very nice pink.

Thank you for your help! I guess it could be that it's just not popular enough to be found on searching- or maybe the name was misspelled on the tag.

I really do like it, either way. :)

I am trying to post but this is my third post that got wiped out, sometimes Houzz just gets on my nerves. I have belindas dream and belindas blush, both do ok, they do get blackspot though. Agree the high night temperatures and humidity are the oroblem.problem. assuming Texas tough is the same as the earth kind list? My duchess de brabant does ok., smaller foliage and flowers during summer. Will look into Katy road pink, what is the fragrance like? No moving in the near future for me though!

I had a Super Nova from Logees and it was white.... is there a pink super nova? I like your Mars Rose er whatever it is... very pretty!

There's a nursery nearby me selling big brug plants in pots and the flowers are almost identical to what you posted. However, they don't include a name of the plant on the tag. I'll have to ask them.

That would be great, tommysmommy! 'Mars' is really proving to be easy- the one of the three with the most leaves and growth, the most blooms (already more big buds). They aren't highly scented- but oh well. :)

cmeonthewater, as gone2seed suggested, I checked the ABADS Brug Gallery and Family Tree. We don't have a brug named Mars Rose listed either.

It does look a lot like 'Miss Anna' which we do have in the gallery. But, just because it looks like Miss Anna please do not rename your brug as Miss Anna. Just go with the name that the nursery had on it, even though the name could be wrong.

And concerning your last question about if there was a registration process for brugmansia, please follow the link provided.

It will take you to the main registry page for brugmansia. On November 2, 2002 ABADS became the ICRA (International Cultivar Registration Authority) for brugmansia and datura.

Well, I'm sorry to say, the nursery did not have a clue as to what type brug they had. They got an end lot of plants from some grower and no info on it! I noticed the shape of theirs is more a suaveolens type, although the color is very much the same.
