I have repeatedly in the past pointed out that "hot topics" be discussed in the *Hot topics Forum* only to be blindsided with mockery from all sides. Since it seems that 'consensus rules' here, I guess I can learn to 'go with the flow' and join in with the postings. Why fight it right? I think people realized that I had made my point. ------ All the links the OP posted, went to stories about how a mob beat a guy rather than just calling the police with a suspicion that he was in the neighborhood walking down the street. They could have called 911 and if they "wanted to help" then followed him and kept a good eye on him until the police arrived in a few minutes to apprehend him. Another innocent man was savagely beaten the same day by those who thought they had the right guy. Today is another day and thousands of children will be raped today. None of them will get a party and a parade, or be awarded a "princess plaque". None of them have a "Little Angel Fund" set up by Bank of America. Those kids need solace just as much as this girl does and there is no one to give it to them.

I'm not saying that online design is superior to local design, just that it's do-able, and probably in many cases, adequate. It has the potential to be much less expensive, if someone figures out how to deliver the services. Personally I believe, like many other offerings via the Internet, that it will be a viable option for the future. It's entirely dependent on information collected and provided by the client and it takes a fair amount of information in order to produce good design. The weak point, as I see it, is getting the client to provide this information. We see here how reticent people are about providing decent photos. It might take a hundred or more well organized photos and a lot of words. Now, it's pretty much theoretical as I don't believe anyone has worked out a slick, comprehensive method of accomplishing this. Nevertheless, depending on client needs, I think there is a great deal that can be offered if someone wants to make the effort. I've had a few occasions to help people via remote and say that from my perspective, it's MUCH more time consuming trying to get a client to collect information as opposed to just doing it myself. There is also the future potential to employ some very sophisticated technology in order to collect data. Personally, I'd like to be the smart dude who figured out how to make many millions by coming up with the "go to" web site for landscape design! However, I think it will be one very expensive website that relies on software tools yet to be invented. I would work on this if I could first win the MegaMillions lottery.

Question for someone who has been successful rooting bloomstalks. 1) Does the bloomstalk put down roots from the cut end that is about 1/2 inch UNDER the soil OR from the base of the little leaves that are slightly touching the top of the soil? 2) Does the little baby grow from the roots UNDER the soil OR from the base of the little leaves that are slightly touching the top of the soil? Ken, it didn't hit me when I read your initial post, but looking at the actual measure of 1/4 inch, I agree that you may be better off trying a little longer stem. 3/8" at the very least comes to mind. I mean your plant, your call but if I try this I think I will do no less than 3/8" and no more than 1/2". Is there really a prime length to cut these bloomstalks? Rosie
