Palm tree 'oasis' on Vancouver Island

This small front yard garden is home to palms grown from seeds. They were then planted as hardy garden specimen for a subtropical look. After a chilly week, it was nice to walk out in the sun and see what kind of winter or all-season plants and trees are doing. It is easier to spot exotics in winter with temperate foliage falling. December offers fall colours or trees that are still in flower. Victoria has very interesting flora that ranges from cold climate trees to the hardier spectrum of subtropical flora. It sounds impossible that Windsor, ON is more southerly than Victoria, BC. But fact can be stranger than fiction.
