hello

would anyone be interested in doing a seed swap? for those that have not done one before, here is some info

- you save and package your seeds from nector and host

plants, be sure to mark them with what they are.

- you then pack them(in a bubble envelope) and send them

all to me, with return postage.

- I will sort all the seeds and send each person back the

same number of seed packets as they sent (if you send 2

packs each of 10 diffrent plants, you will get back 20

diffrent kinds of seeds)

please let me know if anyone is interested, I'm doing a swap for sept already on the round robin page, so we would be swaping in oct.

hello well the seeds are on their way back, I got an envie from Gray there was no gardenweb name so I'm not sure who this was but I got tem and swaped out your seeds and they went out with the rest this morning. please try to post when you get them, everyone got more seeds than what you sent with the one exception of some one that asked for less seeds back. thanks again for those that donated seeds for the swap, they were appritiated. have a great thanksgiving if I don't get back before then BIG HUGGGG to everyone michelle ps caterwallin - my monarch finaly hatched but it was very cold and raining that day, so I put him on some fresh flowers(don't ask where I had to go to get them) and the next day he would not fly so we kept him in the house the a few more days and he still would not fly, finaly yesterday I found him dead in the flowers I got for him. so I think there was something wrong with him from the start. but he realy had no chance of migrating this late.

Thanks so much for hostessing Beth! I received some new varieties of milkweeds which I definitely plan to winter sow. One thing I've learned is that milkweed resents being transplanted so if you can, dedicate a small patch of earth to it, direct sow and cover very lightly with soil just enough so the seeds don't blow away, and ignore till spring, you may get a nice surprise! If you have problems with kitties scratching in your beds like I do push twigs/sticks in ground every 6in. or so, Then toss milkweed seeds, toss soil lightly to cover, leave till spring once the plants are up they will leave it alone, then I pull the sticks up.

Hi Tom! I see you have a page and a wish list started. Good job. Now if I sound bossy or start to sound like an IRS agent spitting out rules--that's not what I'm trying to do. Can you do a couple things? 1. Set up your messaging. When you click on our usernames (such as canyonwind (9) above, it will take you to her page. In the top right corner is a rectangle marked "Message". You can email her directly, ask her a question, propose a seed trade, give the other person your address to send you seeds--and it's not on the public thread with the weirdos and stalkers. As long as you're setting things up go to your username and add a number behind your name. Once again using canyonwind (9) as an example. That means she lives in USDA hardiness zone 9. I live in zone 4/5. That makes it easier for us to know if the seeds we have will do well in your area. The larger the number the warmer the climate. You can google your USDA hardiness zone. Now that you know your zone...you can work on your wishlist. If you are in zone 4/5 like myself you will know that anything tropical dies in the fall. If I want tropical seeds I know I'll have to grow it indoors or plant it as an annual. What kind of Want List? There's no right or wrong. Why make a Wish List? Because it gives the rest of us information. If you have 3 kinds of marigolds on your list we might offer you another variety. If you have annuals on your list we might offer you some of those. Also include what you DON'T want. Example: No prairie grasses or daylilies, please. Now...FOTESS is a group. It stands for Friends of the Earth Simple Swaps. We swap just about every month. If you are back here at this place find 2018 January Fotess thread. Usually next month's post will be put up the end of the earlier month. We love new people...but as with everything there's a process. You can post on the thread that you're interested in this month's swap or you can click on sandlapper or sjc's username and email them through Houzz. We just don't want someone who says they will swap, but doesn't follow through so we make sure there's a back up plan so nobody's left out. Just like second grade--everybody wins. This is a great idea! Count me in.

Would we need to send a return bubble mailer (with postage and return address) in with the seeds? Or can the original mailer be recycled?

LOL I missed the part about starting in Oct until Tracey said something. I wanted to join, but my seeds aren't ready yet. But I'm sure they will be by then!

Is there gonna be a min. or max. amount of seed packs to be involved?

I think that any host plant seeds involved, should include what butterflies use it, written on it for us newbies. Nevermind I suppose I could just look it up, huh? LOL

hello

there is no need to send another bubble envie, I will re-use the old one. please don't forget return postage.

don't send me your address I will send you mine, put your address in the envie

send as many as you have, but please no more than 3 packets of each kind. if you have lots of extras and want to send bonus seeds for me to hand out, just write *BONUS* on the packet.

there is no minnumun, if all you have are one kind of seed send three packets of them and you will get three or more (depending on how many send bonus seeds) kinds of seed back.

I will send everyone my address about midway through Sept.
