I've never seen hummingbirds in my heuchera before this year either. It's strange because they haven't been visiting the plants I normally see them on. This particular bird was a much brighter color than the ones I'm used to seeing. He was also quite a bit larger. I don't know what might have changed in the ecosystem, but obviously something has. I've found that the lack of pollinators (bees in particular) in general to be disturbing. You might as well leave the flowers on your heuchs. You never know who they may attract.

Since We've moved here,there has been a lot of nature's battles that I wouldn't expect to normally see.I've seen sparrows chasing crows away.I've also been privelaged enough to observe a pair of hawks taking on a falcon,after the falcon had stolen a fish from one of the hawks.They didn't manage to get the fish back,but it was a "once in a lifetime"experience to see them give chase.The downside is that the fish came from my pond,but on the upside,the the pond is overstocked & if I can help majestic birds like these to raise young,then life is good.

I have not seen any of those in my garden but I have seen many butterflies. There was a couple like the one shown, a large yellow one that look almost like the black one and dozens of small ones af different colors, they were mostly in the flower beds. Larry
