A question about rooted Brug cuttings

Hi Y'all- just had a question about rooted brug cuttings that I received from many great folks last fall & this spring-- I was wondering if it is normal for them to take their sweet old time in growing leaves once they are planted out in the garden? A few have no leaves at all yet. I have them planted in a sunny position for a good part of the day- I water them sometimes 2x at day, & feed them a weak solution of fish emulsion weekly. Maybe I am too impatient! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure they are alive? If there's no foliage I wouldn't water them that much. It might cause rot. I wouldn't feed them again until you see some growth. Maybe a dose of B1 or Superthrive to get them started would be a good idea. It sounds a bit unussual but I have plenty of brugs that are quite alive that take their sweet time putting out foliage.

In our area, the brugs should be leafing out big time. The ones I got from you are huge. 2' tall and 3' wide. I feed once a week with Miracle Grow and water when I remember.

Hi Linda, Goodness gracious and I thought there were a lot of Karen's here. lol I have done this before but only a couple times and some of those were by accident. I think it probably works best with mature wood cuttings and this time of year is very good for rooting brugs. Probably better then the winter because they've entered a period of active growth. The only problem I had was trying to cut the stem into sections, each containing a plant, once it rooted and the branches sprouted. A very sharp knife or a sharp pair of clippers will work. Karyn

It is probably OK to cut anytime as long as you think the brug is ready to cut and the cuttings are semi mature so they will be easier to root. I think brugs will come back from the roots in your zone, so you might not even have to cut them back at all until the frost gets them, but I 'll let someone in a zone like you confirm that because I'm not sure. I don't treat a leafless cutting any differently. Obviously a leafless cutting is less likely to survive, but they regularly do. Just put it with the others and cross your fingers. If I can, I lay it flat with multiple nodes touching the soil, to increase the odds.

The only 7 leave roses I have are French Lace and Brandy. It might be Royal Wedding because of the apricot peachy pink color. Must have something to do with the temperatures because I have both pink and apricot color ones on the same bush. Also has the same petal formation and fragrance as Royal Wedding or French Lace. Anyone have these roses and have an opinion?

I have one cutting from you that got roots but no leaves. I had set it aside and it got watered when everything else got watered. I was cleaning out the pot ghetto and decided to toss it when I noticed practically microscopic leaves. The little leaves are growing quickly now. It took from when you sent it to now to get it's first little leaves.
