i wish all the members of the garden web would try to post in the appropiate forum. i have enjoyed looking at all the postings but for the most part half of the stuff posted dosent have one thing to do with brugmansia plants. i would hope that the rightful people dont go into another forum and trash it like some have done to the brugmansia forum. if you are that bored go out and do something else.

Ok, ok..I am givning in! I am on the prowl for either those birds or a couple of green singing finches. Jojo, you just made me realize how much I miss hearing the singing of birds in my home.lol It made winetr go by so much better than the dead silience in my home. I think I know who named those birds..lol. Such cute names that only a kid or two can come up with. I would love for you to raise them along side of us, all the way to the brood, hatchlings, and babies. I would love that Jojo since I have a thing for birds. Dear Abby, I need your advice. I've been wondering if my wife has been seeing someone else. She always takes off for 'weekend shopping trips with her friends', and she has 'late night office meeting with her co workers'. Women aren't the only ones sensitive about these things -- a man can also tell when something isn't right. I had to find out for myself, so I came home early one day and parked up the street so I could sneak home and catch her going out with someone. I hid behind my John Deere Lawn Tractor so I could see who pulled up into the driveway. And that's when I saw it. My Deere has an oil leak on the right side valve cover. So do you think I can just snug down the bolts some, or do I need to replace that gasket?

Adblock Plus blocks all the ads using Firefox - learned about it from the Computer forum a long time ago. I also use Flashblock. That doesn't solve the issue that GW thinks the ads are appropriate for our viewing, it just makes it so you aren't subjected to them ~or any others ads for that matter. Ad revenue keeps this site free for us, but the obnoxiousness of the ads drove me to block them all.

I agree with Colleen, do not interact with her whatsoever & if people believe her, who cares? If they know you, they won't believe it. If they believe it, they don't know you or know you very well or aren't much of a friend. I know it's not the same but when I was first dating DH, BM was nice to my face & talked crap behind my back. I tried to be nice to her because I THOUGHT she was a nice person. When we moved in together, she began talking crap to DH about me & my kids. She was not nice to my face but somewhat cordial. I was cordial with her & tried to be nice. After we got married, fangs came out & she was nasty directly to me. I had never done anything to her, never said anything about her, except to tell DH that he did not have to worry about her keeping SD from him if he didn't do whatever she said. I told DH he had rights that she couldn't take away without a court order. (Every so often if DH didn't want to go along with her plans, she would threaten to take SD away from him so he would do what she wanted.) So, eventually I decided no contact is best. She wrote stuff about me on facebook, using my name. I reported it & it was deleted. I also sued her & was given a conditional judgment (only because the Judge did not want to get in the middle of a "family law" case & thought it should have been resolved with an order in the family court because SD was invovled.) Unfortunately, SD is much like her mom and very loyal to her mom. Thinking back to when I met her, she did not like me. I chalked a lot of it up to "she's a kid" or "she needs more attention from daddy" so I back off & give them space. I've done things for her, been there for her, defended her, taken care of her, held her hand when her mom refused to come to her foot surgery & she was scared.... I feel like I've done everything I possibly can to show her I care for her & she can trust me/count on me, but during it all, she would still go to her counselor, teachers, her mom, both grandma's and now DH & complain about me... make up lies in some circumstances or exxagerage the truth or tell only the part of the story that makes me look bad.... all to get sympathy & attention. I have started to believe there are some people out there that cannot help it. They need the attention they get or they get something out of it by doing what they do. In your situation, I think she gets a sick pleasure from the drama she creates. It gives her a high of excitement and when you respond, she enjoys that. It keeps it going. If everyone ignores her & blocks her, it will take the fun out of it for her. If you have to see her, do your best to remain calm, non responsive and cordial. If you can muster "friendly", do it. By that, I don't mean be friends with her & share secrets or girl talk, but smile & be cheery... more than cordial. Most people can see it for what it is and even if they are fooled at first, if they are around her long enough, they will catch on... just as you did. She isn't going to change until she WANTS to change and she may even need professional help to get there.

I have to agree. We all do share the love of brugs but we understand that there is so much more out there and want to share with our friends. If you would like to stay this is the friendly bunch of people. And if you want to talk about brugs or have a question just post it you will get your answer. This is the only place I feel comfortable asking my stupid questions. I have gotten practically yelled at elsewhere for my opinion. This place is like family sit and chat for a while.

I'm sorry if I was rude. I was having a problem and I came here to ask these helpful folks their opinion and for some help and saw your post and got very offended. We help anyone with questions about on topic things and post when we have questions for the more experienced ones as well but we also care very much about each other and whats going on in their lives. I believe we all agree that it would be a boring place during the downtime with the brugs if it weren't for the off topic. Now back to my daughters blue screen of death I am trying to fix with no help.

Turbodog, If my memory is correct, the only post I have seen from you (on the Brug forum) was about rain water and how to keep mesquitos out .. correct me if I am wrong. I do believe we all gave you advise/tips on how to do that. We do get off topic somewhat, but most of us seem to enjoy that. The topics are clearly stated, and if it something I have no interest in, I don't read it. I feel like I can come to this forum and get any Brugmansia question answered, and fairly quickly. Please post a topic about Brugmansia and we all join in on the discussion. So far, I have not seen one post from you about Brugmansia, so please, lead by example.....

Some forums have a 'conversations' forum tacked onto them for off topic stuff. The brugmansia forum doesn't for some reason so we have to talk in here.
I don't think its being trashed when everyone is getting along and helping each other out. This is probably one of the most active forums on gweb.

If you don't like the OT stuff than don't click on it, thats why it is labeled OT. Most of us enjoy talking with eachother and sharing our ENTIRE gardens. Ask a brug question or do a search and your problem has probably already been answered but we would gladly and quickly answer it again. Most of the other forums are dead anyway so it is almost useless to post a question on some of them. Sorry if anyone thinks I am being rude but I think it is rude for someone who I've never seen post before come in here and try to tell us to stop talking to eachother about OT plants and stuff and sharing our other plant pics. Just my .02

This forum name needs to be changed to "I love the family of Brugmansiua lovers"

I see the man has a point. To an outsider, we are all loons.
But thats cool, we can weed out those who are not super people who understand this forum and it's uniqueness.

Although I am sure, not everyone loves me, I love all you regulars; you are all so kind, Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

I think it's terrific that people are willing to share such wonderful pics of plants in addition to brugs. I had no idea that there was so many different daylilies and it's created a new interest for me. I'm sure there's lots of plants no one had interest in until seeing the actual pics and the info about them. It's always fun to add new pretties to a garden. Thank you everyone

Jan you are so right. I have aquired so much of my collection, other then brugs, after seeing pics that people have posted. Many were plants that I never would have known about if it hadn't been for these OT subjects.

Yep me too. I also found out what a lot of plants I had are, lol. I love everyone on here. Got a cool new plant today. Its called a red bird cactus. It really neat and its was free. A lady gave me some cuttings. One good thing happened to me this weekend at least, lol.

For everybody that does not like OT's I just got to stick my nose in. Like so many say again and again. WHY do you click on the OT subjects if you do not like them. I browse through the GW on things that interest me. Like Vegetable Gardening etc. That does not mean that I READ EVERY post. HERE on the other hand the posts give me a chance to get to know everybody a bit better with every post they share here. So please DON'T STOP.

The fair compromise is to mark the topic as OT:.... which is already happening here for the most part. That way, the reader is informed that it is not about Brugs, and has a choice to read or not. I am happy with that separation. Thanks to those who are already designating postings thus.
