Hello, Just wanted to butt in and say that I have plenty of seeds for the orange milkweed or butterflyweed, and I have lots of seed pods forming as we speak. I also have many volunteer baby Rue plants that could probably be mailed in a pinch. I haven't checked for seeds of the Rue, because I have so much already growing. Unfortunately, I have yet to see any Giant Swallowtail action, despite having every host plant it is known to frequent. I also have seeds for two other varieties of milkweed, A. incarnata (swamp) and one called "Red" by Seed Saver's Exchange. If you're looking for seeds, try the wintersowing forum--also an excellent way to get multiple plants started inexpensively and very reliably. I live in Charlotte and my butterfly weed has not emerged from the ground yet. I have gotten it in the last 2 years at Kings nursery. There are other nurseries that also carry it, but they will have it closer to June, not now. There is a butterfly garden mail order place in NC called Niche Gardens. They have all sorts of plants to attract the bf's and hummers. You can sometimes find pots of it at the UNCC plant sale and Winghaven sale, as well as out to Daniel Stowe. Since I have increased the amout of milkweed and other plants, I have really begun to draw in the Monarchs!

byrdlady, it's so good to hear this! where i grew up in western PA therew were syriaca grwing everywhere roadside, with nearly every patch having monarch colonies. now the milkweed is less common, because of more mowing, and monarchs are much less common, even up there. i've been trying to get syriaca going here, too. i have some nice patches of tuberosum after working on it for 8 or 9 yrs, and have grown currasvica from seed before. recently got some otherr ones (don't recall off the top), and just this yr, noticed 3 cats on my tuberosum. so maybe it does take a while for them to come. ralph gave me some potted currasavica, which i hope to overwinter in the cool basement, and some cats, too. hoping they'll come back in spring and lay eggs. the last one is making a chrysalis now. your expeience heartens me that i wasn't doing anything wrong. tammy

Chandra, I have asclepias fruiticosa, A. viridis, and A. eriocarpa (from trades, just a few seeds of each). Also have clematis integrifolia which I saw on your want list.
