Raccoons show up just when the deer are controlled
Comments (37)" Not saying it won't work...simply offering folks a different option." No problem there. And you're right, "springer" air rifles should never be stored in the cocked position, unless the spring is the newer gas filled shock type. I simply disagree "most modern air rifles 'crack'". There are very few springer, or pump up air rifles that are super-sonic. Take a look at some of the popular air rifles at the Pyramyd Air website (Beeman, Air Arms, RWS). You'll find only a few super magnums that are faster than 1100 ft/s. The reason for that is that most people don't want them. There is a significant loss of accuracy when the pellet goes super-sonic. The "shock" or crack of going super-sonic throws off the accuracy. Like I said, you can get super-sonic speeds with a regular magnum, but you have to use a really light pellet....See MoreRaccoon and vegetables -- worried for rabies
Comments (5)All you need to do is to consult the Center for Disease Control for information on infectious diseases. Direct contact with the saliva or body matters is what transmit this disease. One thing about raccoons though. they carry a kind of microscopic worm in their feces. I worried about this because once the feces dries up the eggs may spread and get ingested. There was a case in Toronto of a child that went blind because the raccoons used a public sandbox as it's litterbox and the child got infected while playing in that sand box. So when I had a pesky racoon in my yard, I took extra effort to disinfect where it did it's business (which was on my fence and the roof of my shed). So if there are more than one racoon in your area causing havoc - best take measures to prevent them getting into your garbage or compost. In my house, I had actually set up a shed for both the garbage and the green compost. Even then, the sneaky devils managed to find a way to pry the door open, but we fixed that. Inside the shed, we took additional measures to make it difficult for the raccoons to open the lids of the containers. Get a pest company to remove the animal. We had one that eventually found itself in our roof and made a nest there. A pest company had to deal with that. One pest company suggested leaving ammonia soaked rags to deter the creatures but it's smelly and you need to repeatedly wet the rag....See MoreRaccoons
Comments (4)I don't know if Devil Claws would be affective. What I KNOW would be effective is a Hav-a-Heart raccoon trap. Research and decide for yourself. Georgia raccoons have a very high incidence of being rabies cariers. I don't want them on my property....See MoreThe Devil Made Me Do It (pics heavy)
Comments (12)I bet the d:-)evil made you do it! BTW - they are not all peeled perfectly. I see a quail egg directly to the right of the chicken egg that has some mangled white - looks like it came off with the shell.........I'm just sayin buddy! The yolks in the quail eggs are huge. I was on a trip to Japan with the Toyota Company in the early 80's. One night at the never ending banquets they put on for us there was an appetizer with little sunny side up quail eggs topping off what appeared to be caviar. Or maybe not..... I think I had a couple of cocktails and can't be sure what was under that egg. I would've tried the funny/sunny little egg but I was stuffed. I had just finished some rare beef and about 100 other apps. They spared nothing when it came to entertaining the American Toyota dealership owners. I used to love rare beef. But it needs to be right off the grill so the outside is still hot. You are like a restaurant catering to every whim of every guest. Mustangs and I are still waiting for our invites in the mail....See Moreianna
