Anyone ordered from Lilies from the Valley?

I placed an order with 'Lilies from the Valley', out of Nova Scotia back in September 07 and after some emails, my order was supposed to be shipped June 6, 08. I am still waiting and my recent email has not been answered.

Anyone have experience with this seller? I understand it is a one woman show, but....

I just noticed your posting;I have ordered from this company last year and while everything turned out all right in the end it was a bit of an ordeal.The excuses were many and various and some of them truly outstanding in their complexity.I ordered n early summer 2007 and received the shipment in early fall. It is a good thing that I had good blood pressure medication as toward the last if anyone mentioned my lily order a red haze drifted in front of my eyes.However, by way of apology for all the problems, she sent me a bonus package that had me scrambling madly to find room for them all. As it was some of my friends departed with labeled bags of bulbs and the last several dozen were planted in pots and sunk in the garden.Everything appears to be healthy, albeit a little light budwise. That is to be expected, given the origin of the bulbs.Just persevere is all I can say......I think that I posted you in the spring about lily bulblets....my computer had a meltdown so I have no records left.If you are the person, the martagons appear to be hansonii.Good luck with the order. newine

Just to update. After numerous emails and a phone call, I received a tracking number and an apology for being such a muddled order. The bulbs were shipped July 4 and I received them July 14.....in surprisingly good condition...a few mushies but considering the temps...not bad.
I also received a enormous amount of extras, that was greatly appreciated, but I too was scrabbling to find homes for all of them.
Alas, they are all tucked in and I'm not sure if I should expect any green this year, or have to wait till next.
Hope they don't just expire in the ground.

Also, from elsewhere on the site, it showed that a separate pack holding the seeds was inside the folded art pack. It looked like the art pack could be easily unfolded and framed. "First, the factual. Each art pack unfolds to reveal a seed packet full of seeds. On the seed packet, you will find specific planting information. The number of seeds allows you to plan your garden, the number of days helps you figure out when to plant. The short paragraph gives specific information for each variety--the type of soil they require, the amount of water and sunlight. There is also a description of how large the plant will grow and what to expect out of a single planting. As far as fun goes, the information printed on the back of the art packs is the stuff of interesting dinner conversation. Hello Michelle, Believe me, we did not intend for this to happen; we have a firm guarantee policy on misidentified roses. I am not sure why this was not more adequately followed up with you and I apologize for that! Distant Drums is notoriously hard to propagate from cuttings. The few plants that we do get to root sell out very quickly so not having a replacement plant available to send is probably the problem. In that case we should have issued you a refund. OT - has anyone ordered from hidden valley hibiscus?

I've only been ordering hibiscus from the internet for 3 years but my experience with multiple orders has been that Hidden Valley Hibiscus has a wide selection and the best plants. The ones I received this year were large and most appreciated is that they were very clean - no insect problems at all which I cannot say about the other sellers I also ordered from. The plants also made the transition to my garden better than those from elsewhere, some of those were too much "hot house" plants that struggled after I got them but not the ones from HVH. Also, Hidden Valley supports their plants better than any grower/seller of any type of plant I have seen. They have very complete info on growing hibiscus, a forum with many useful comments and answers, and a free newsletter every month with lots of good tips and other info. To me they try harder and do a great job with everything. I guess you can tell I like this vendor and for sure plan to buy a bunch more plants starting next Jan 1 when they open the new selection for the year.

There is a reason why you can't get lily of the valley in your area. Lily of the valley requires a cool, temperate climate which you don't have. There are so many other beautiful flowers that you can grow why not concentrate on them. Did you know that lily of the valley is invasive. It took me 3 years to rid my flower beds of them so be thankful that you can't grow them

Good news. Some of mine are blooming right now and I seem to have had a goodly amount survive.If all goes well, in several years I will have the biggest stand of Yelloween outside of the commercial nurseries(the survivors of my initial order plus the bonus package) and, of course, all the other stuff she sent. newine
