Vine for Partial Shade?

I'm hoping someone can recommend a clematis or other climber for a particular spot! This spot is against my garage wall, and it has a pergola above it. The spot is west-facing, so it gets full shade in the morning, dappled shade in the afternoon, and sun in the late afternoon. The pergola (above the spot) has a wisteria starting to to climb over it, which will eventually probably turn the early afternoon dappled shade into full shade, so the only sun in this spot would hit after 3-ish. The clematis would be trained up a wall trellis, not up to the pergola.

Does anyone think it will be possible to grow a semi-shade-tolerant clematis there? If so, do you have any specific suggestions? If not (sigh), is there another climber that you think is nice, that would be OK in this spot?

We actually have 2 very old, very very dense clematis vines in this area. They used to be OK, until we built the pergola. They now flower only sporadically, so we're going to move them to cover the ugly green chain-link fence that separates us from our absolutely wonderful but very chatty neighbours. (In fact we have tried everything in desperation to create a dense screen so we don't get stuck chit-chatting every time we got outside, but nothing has worked so far!)

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!
