Oxalis gigantea flower and bud

A bit of an oddball species from the Atacama desert in Chile. The little clover leaves fold up as the soil dries out, letting you know when its time to water. In summer, it goes completely dormant and drops every last lead.

I hadn't been paying close attention, and was very pleasantly surprised to go out yesterday and find it blooming. It has lots of little buds too, so I'm hoping the show will last a while.

Lovely little yellow flower. No scent whatsoever.

The buds have a cool twist about them.

I like the leaves very much, and the flowers are a nice bonus.
