OT A special Mother' Day gift.

I got up this morning, at the coast, and had to dig up a few plants for a plant swap, on Saturday. I am trading for some rare cannas. I usually do not check my plants, the morning I leave, I usually just get up and leave. This morning, I went outside and saw the most beautiful blooms.

I had plumeria, ichormoa, hibiscus, morning glory, passion vines, and brugmansia all in bloom. I just couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I wish I would have remembered to bring my camera. I usually do not get to see everything in bloom since I do not live there.It was a special gift to me from someone who knows I love plants. I worked so hard this weekend cleaning flowerbeds, and spraying all my plants with Bayer Insectide, and Plant Wash. I watered everything yesterday, and think that is why everything was in bloom this morning. I am so glad, that I went out there this morning. It was special. Barbra,

Oh Wow Barbra that must have really been a sight to see. It sounds wonderful.

I had the grandchildren all weekend. I didn't have the opportunity to garden. I have a bunch of daylilies I ordered in the fall come in and they are soaking right this minute for me to start on first thing in the morning.

We have a bunch of daylilies blooming and I just love walking around and looking at everything and seeing the first blooms. It's like being a NEW MOTHER....except this time it's to plants. LOL I even count the buds and things about to bloom.

Sounds wonderful and I'm so glad you took a few minutes to enjoy all your hard work.

I bet that was nice Barbra. My plummies are just coming out of dormancy. I got a lot of stuff planted today and plan to do more tomorrow. I need to weed the grass and cut the dead buds from the roses still. I am so excited the blooms from my lavender rose smell the same as the one I used to grow a long time ago. Like spices. The buds got eaten my some bugs so they didn't look too great. I am moving them to the back so I can keep a better eye on them. My poor plants all suffered last week when I was sick. John wasn't watering most of them enough and they looked terrible. I need to feed everything too.

Susan, they make cameras for the computer and we use Skype? to talk to/see my dh's family in St. Louis. It is really fun and cameras are really cheap. We went to Reno yesterday for the whitewater kayak festival. We watched some great kayakers compete. My dh could have paddled with Eric Jackson (maker of Jackson kayaks) last weekend but passed to spend day with dd at her softball games. I could not believe he passed that chance. Oh well. Anyhoo, it was sunny with a bit of a breeze but not enough to ruin the day at all. There is this fun race and the runners dress up in funny costumes. There were Avatars, Kiss band, pregnant whitetrash, and one group was Tiger and Jesse James (they were funny). The winner was Sigfriend and Roy. They had hoolahoops and tossed these really big stuffed white tires through the loops. At end of race they have to run through this huge muddy area and get hosed off as they cross the finish line. We ate at Circus Circus buffet and played in the arcade. My dh and dd could not win a thing, little ds 9yr won everything he tried. Lots of fun. It was a great pre-mothers day for me. Today is kind overcast and I rather just do nothing, dh keeps wanting to buy me something but I don't want anything, really. So happy mothers day to each and every one of us. And also to anyone who is not a mom but mothers someone, even if a pup or kitten. And to those who have lost their mothers, they are only gone in body but never in spirit.

The gifts that my mom who is 84 seems to enjoy most are gift certificates for massages, pedicures, to have her hair done, and manicures. She can get her hair, manicure and pedicure all done at the same place and the massage done elsewhere. She feels pampered and would never spend the money for the other things. The other most important thing is Time with us. I better get busy shopping for mom also. It will most likely be a massage this time. Oh also,... I go to our grocery store and buy her an unusual food item that she would never pick up. Maybe a cut of meat or something frozen that is a new entree, a package of different soup mix,etc. We all get in the rut of buying and eating the same thing. Happy mothers day to all of you mothers. Sunny, One of the things that my husband agreed to early on in our marriage, is that if one of our kids wants/needs the step parent to do things for them (because the parent can't), then the child has to ask the step parent, not the parent. When my son wanted a co-signer on a car, I couldn't help him because I had just started my own business. I talked to my husband and he agreed to help but I felt that my son should ask him, not me. My son did ask him and got the car with my husband's help. My husband does the same with his daughter. If she wants something from me, she has to ask me. She still asks him all the time and he tells her, 'you have to ask SM'. My sons got angry a while back because they don't like when my husband has an opinion about anything. They think he should stay out of 'our life' but then I remind him that he's my husband and he is a part of 'our life' and I remind him of the things my husband contributes and that they don't mind when he does something where they benefit. They don't like it but they know it's true. What your husband should have told his daughter is that she would need to ask you to cook the food because he doesn't know how or can't do it all by himself. It really is up to the parent to expect their children (even adult ones) to respect their spouse enough to ask for themselves instead of going through the parent. It's much easier for kids to let themselves believe that their parent is doing everything for them and they don't need the step parent if all they have to do is ask the parent who then asks the step parent. Then they don't really appreciate the step parent because they can tell themself that their parent is the one doing everything for them. It's funny that my son will ask me for something and when I say, you need to ask stepdad yourself... he'll decide 'I don't really need it.' He has been giving my husband a hard time and would rather go without than ask my husband, well, that's HIS problem, not mine.

Kylie, I got a camera for Christmas, it was charged and ready to use Christmas. Somehow the charger was never found again. I have not been able to use my camera, and have to still use my husbands, I just forgot to take it with me this weekend. For Mothers Day, my husband got me another charger and had my camera ready to use yesterday. May, is when most of my plants bloom. I should have some nice pictures to show the next time. Kristy, I will need instructions on how to post pictures again. I knew I should have written them down. My dayliles are just beautiful. I have been using Plant Wash, the daylily rust is almost gone. I have been spraying once a month for the past 3 months. Barbra,

We DJ'd a benefit car show yesterday for a fire dept. There weren't a lot of cars because of the rain so everyone got a door prize. I got a plant, of course, a peach colored Begonia. & my daughter got me 2 plants, a Dahlia & an Angelonia.

I got a calf...LOL
Our little Mini went into labor yesterday a little before noon.. It didn't take long to see she was going to need some help..It was big calf and it wasn't budging.. We got the Vet out and had to pull it.. A bull calf.. she was just exausted and finally got up this morning.poor thing can hardly walk...LOL

Kylie,no wonder the mom had a hard time the baby was half as big as her,so cute.
Barb,that sounds like me I am always some where other than with my camara when I need it,this morning we had 5 baby Carolina Wrens come off the nest and I missed it with the camera,because I did not want to miss the babies myself,oh well I might be able to get them before they leave completely because the nest box is on my back deck.

barbara, anytime I really want to take neat picture I dont have it or the batteries are dead...LOL So glad you were abe to enjoy it tho !
