No Mow Asclepias Lanceolata!

MissSherry

There's a wet area along Hwy. 49 close to my house where asclepias lanceolata grows. I've been wanting to get some seed pods for the last few years, but the highway department always mows over it before they mature. It's in bloom now, and one of the plants has pure yellow blooms instead of the typical red and yellow. I'd love to have some of these to plant in the wet areas of my property. Monarchs might lay eggs on it, and I know it's a good nectar plant, because I've seen butterflies nectaring on it several times - what asclepias isn't a great nectar plant?

Anyway, I've been scouting them, and today I made a picture of a regular plant and the pure yellow flowering one -
