I have Little Red Riding Hood and it starts out sort of bushy but does climb as it gets bigger. I finally found my camera cord so I need to download a couple hundred pics, lol. I just took one of it the other day. I really love mine. It overwintered easily too in the garage.

I had a variety called Crimson something?, can't remember but it kept more of a bush form then my white mandevilla. It was quite large and did vine but nothing like the other. I actually liked the bushy form much better. I have pics somewhere in PB from last year. If I can find them I'll post.

They all vine. That's what they do. I had to have another of the Sun Parasol 'Crimson'. I wintered one over, but had to have another! Will train it on my deck railing.

Mine was about 3' across and about the same in height and was still a bushy shape. It did send out some vines but it wouldn't take well to being on a trellis. It just didn't have the shape. I left it in the garden too long and by the time I got around to digging it up it was too late to save it. I think the dead bush might still be in the garage. lol

Just keep winding the vines around & back to the bottom. It will look like a bush. LOL My plain pink ones died back to the dirt this winter but they are alive. Yay!

Thanks. I think I am going to get one. Weather it is a bush form or a vine...I still like the look of it. I am thinking that the really dark crimson one is going to stay a bushy form like Karyns did. The giant sun parasol crimson was more vining but not as dark of a crimson color.
They even had the bushy ones in hanging baskets, but I am going to go with a regular potted one because they are cheaper and I don't want it in a hb anyways. I bet these will attract the hummingbirds.

The one with the smaller red blooms and glossy leaves will twine and climb just fine. I have better luck with them here in zone 7 than the large pink. The hummingbirds do love them. You will enjoy this plant. Last year I purchased some and I also bought my first brugs. I planted them in the same pots together. Red blooms hanging over and the brugs upright was a pretty combination.

Sounds pretty. Mine has the dark red blooms with glossy leaves. Still haven't gotten to download my pics yet. Get it you will like it, lol.

Mine had deep red blooms with yellow throats, I think. They were average size flowers. The foliage was a bit smaller then my white variety.

You are supposed to be able to start them from cuttings. Anybody try it? I'd love to have a red cutting if someone wants to trade for a pink.

I never had luck with cuttings but they can be propagated by ground layering, probably air layering too. I rooted a stem unintentionally. A lower stem was pushed into the soil by something and formed roots. It did fine when I separated it from the main plant.

I will try pinning one down on the soil and see what happens. I have a pic downloading now. It didn't have many flowers on it at the time but it usually loaded.

Yes its in pretty much full sun but get some late afternoon shade after the sun goes over the house. Its in a pot on the patio. I need to fertilize this weekend so it will put on a new flush of flowers. The pic of it was in the post See how my gardens grown. Very pretty Shawn. Mine looks very similar.

I have been buying them & tossing them for about 20 years. I have always had them in full sun in a container & they seem to like it that way.

My Vigna caracalla plants are coming back too. I am so happy. I love the smell when they bloom & they are cool looking too. Another full sun container plant here.
