Meet Mister Stick, the latest Mystery Houseplant

Ok, I've got a tough one here.

Four (or five?) years ago, a nice British lady gave me...well, it was a stick. A green stick. She told me to put it in water, and in a little while I would have a beautiful, blooming C- (started with a C, that's all I recall).

A year later, it put out 2 roots. I put it in a nice little pot. Now, a few years later, it looks like this (see picture).

I keep it in the bath, where it continues to put out these strange ....leaves?....., stays green, and seems quite happy. Not a single flower or recognizable plant-part in sight.

ANY ideas? (Oh, and ignore the brown skewer: it was planted there when I thought it needed support, and never quite got around to taking it out.)

Personally, I think those wierd green things are arms, and it's an advance scout for some horrid Triffid-like invading army. Fortunately, at the rate they grow we just need to keep loaded hedge-clippers handy. Just for home-protection, you understand....

My first time trying Photobucket. I sure hope this works.
