Datura "Devils Trumpet" - Cuttings VS Seeds
Comments (4)I've never heard of propagating a Datura from cuttings. I have always been told it was seeds, but I could have always been told wrong. I haven't looked for a proof positive answer, because, though I see quite a few of these absolutely beautiful plants growing in people's yards, I do not know them, therefore, I just can't walked up to them & start asking questions. I purchased seeds online of two trumpet plants. I tried sowing them last year without any luck. This year was off too a bad start as well. Unlike the first try, these did not even germinate. The seeds rotted in the soil. Damping off killed my first set. I am currently in my third attempt. It has been about two weeks since they have sprouted, & things seem to be looking brighter....See MoreHAVE: datura/devil's trumpet seeds

Comments (18)I found the nursery. It was Valley Grow in Defuniak Springs, but it went out of business in 2013. The man's name was Earl, and I believe that's where I got my Ecuador Pink and Charles Grimaldi cuttings way back when. He used to sell unrooted cuttings very cheaply. I think I paid about $10 postage included for 2 cuttings each of three different varieties. I found a review on him at Garden Watchdog, and it seemed things started going downhill in 2013. I do remember him giving the varieties over to someone else to grow, but I can't find out who or where. Maybe I'll ask at the brugmansia forum....See Morebonniepunch
