Too rainy to release a monarch?

I have a newly eclosed monarch that will be ready to go by late afternoon, but the weather is calling for hard rain/thunderstorms all day and tonight. I guess I should hold on to him until tomorrow. Will he be ok in a small plastic aquarium-type container (critter keeper) with a few sprigs of flowers from the butterly bush? I'm afraid of him hurting himself by trying to fly around in there since it's fairly small. Tomorrow should be much nicer, so I should be able to let him go in the morning.
