Butterfly Garden for Library--Question about Alyssum

I volunteered to put in a butterfly garden for our local library. The library's landscapers no longer wanted to mow the steep bank. I was planning on putting in all of the usual suspects, particularly the ones that tolerate dry soil on the lean side.

My concern is erosion, so I saw some packets of Allysum "Basket of Gold" (Aurina Saxatilis) because it's a groundcover and is waterwise. It also blooms early. I was going to use this to help hold in the soil while everything else is taking hold in the bed.

Is this alyssum attractive to b'flies at all? I think the annual is, but I don't know about this one. If it's not, I may still put it in since it's so pretty, and just remove it later on once all of the other plants are established.

Someone mentioned erigeron (Sp?) (common name: fleabane)--is there a particular one that would be attractive and spread quickly.

Thank you!
