Need suggestions for full sun and clay

I'm planning (and planting) an area along the back fence that has a southern exposure. I'm trying to keep this easy as I tend to drag things out. So far I've put in rooted cuttings of Salvia 'Indigo Spires' and Salvia microphylla 'San Carlos Festival'. Both are growing elsewhere in our yard and I pulled up stems that rooted on the ground. Behind the S. microphylla I plan to put in 1 or 2 Clematis including 'Etoile Violette' An area about 5x5' is left at the end and I'm wondering what to put in there. Our soil is amended clay.

Can anyone recommend favorite tried-and-true plants that get 3-5 feet tall, aren't invasive, and don't take a lot of water? I'm at a loss and I'm not particularly savvy about plants... I get what I like, and I like Salvias, Agastache, and the like. I'm also interested in Kangaroo Paw, Phlomis, or anything else with interesting form and color.
