Can't identify my succulent

I just bought a miniaturized succulent off the streets in mexico city, but can't identify what plant it is. It has very distinct branches attached to a central stem, the branches are tube like and spotted with something like a spoon on the tip ( or like a straw that opens diagonally). The leaves are serrated, and the branches grow in rosettes of three. It is green with darker spots. Thanks for your help!

It sounds like a kalanchoe, but those are not native to Mexico. Do you have a photo you could post?

Quite right, sounds like kalanchoe tubiflora... mother of millions. Those "spoons" of which you speak are young plants, waiting to fall off and become a pest. That plant is a declared weed where I live...

Thanks for the tips everyone - unfortunately, I took them out and I think I left them out for too long and the leaves are looking sort of transparent/white-ish now. I'll take a picture later, but it's weird - they look like they are overwatered but they've been in the sun so I don't know why they would look like that? In other news, I just got some new little succulents for my classroom! I'll post tomorrow.

Knowledge is power. Read up on succulent care before buying more plants. Succulents need very bright light, and very good drainage. If you do not provide both of these things, your plants will suffer. Never plant in a pot with no drain hole. The water has no where to go, and will eventually rot the roots of your plant. Use a small unglazed terra cotta pot, and a free draining potting mix, so that the excess water will not stay around the roots and rot them. Remember that more houseplants die from over watering than any other reason. And with succulents, this is especially the case. The motto for watering is, 'When in doubt, Don't.' Looks a bit too compact to be the aloes. They tend to be of a much larger scale than the photo plant. I'd guess some form of Haworthiopsis, possibly H. coarctata. Haworthia viscosa (or related species) is another possibility. Just an FYI but Haworthias tend to develop some pretty amazing colors.......much more so than any aloes I have seen. They are also more prone to the extended stemming, like the photo plant.

Your second plant looks like an echeveria of some sort. It can't hold itself up due to the stem being so long, which is probably because it stretched at some point from insufficient light. An easy fix would be to behead the plant. I'd remove some of the lower leaves that are more spaced out first (you can propagate these) and then cut the stem with scissors, leaving an inch or two of stem. Let the stem callus over, and then you can put it in soil. Since it won't have any roots, wait a week or so before watering.

Not a kalanchoe... I probably did a terrible job describing it. Doesn't seem native to Mexico, either. It's only 9 cm. tall. Thanks for everything!

Bryophyllum daigremontiana (formerly known as a Kalanchoe); Mother of Millions indeed. Fun for kids but VERY invasive, it will spread its babies EVERYWHERE!

Definitely not in the garden!! I have one 3 ft. tall. I have a million babies!!! Keep it in the house. It still can get messy!! You can always start new plants with the babies and trade. Ha ha
