wanna hear my good news and bad news?

Good news is, that any bugs that might have invested the brugs and other plants. They are surely dead and gone.

Bad news is, so are almost all leaves along with them. We had like a 10 minute hailstorm. Ground was almost white and while I went out there afterwards to see where I have standing and running waterproblems for the excisting and future flowerbeds. I saw that the hail did a crying job on the brugs that were standing out there in the middle of the yard. Waiting to be potted up in bigger pots or find a inground home. Oh well. This season is not going well but I am stubborn lol

Did you guys make it ok through the storm?

Well this is still better then getting snowstorms right now.

Don"t worry. I am smiling because all happens for a reason. Besides, I know that if they do not stay to soggy, they will recover. Not sure about the little seedlings in the flowerbeds I had planted already. Man the one flowerbed has a darn river running through it. For the first time I saw that the cutter pipe that runs to the ground....is directly pointed towards the flowerbed. Outside the fence and inside you do not see or asume that it would run in that way. Usually it went along the outside in the little bed.

Ok I hope on the rain level we are getting to the point of being ok hahaha

Hey Lucy...

So I understand the storm is headed our way...and we have two baseball games today north of Houston!!!

I seen on the news that some cars in Lubbock were buried by golf ball size hail in the storm (TWO FEET DEEP!!!)...WOW!!!!

I have moved all my plants under cover...so sorry to hear about your plants & little seedlings!!!

What a funny story CI. You might try picking up a few pullets from a feed store this spring or at a poultry swap or auction. The blue/green eggs are the coolest thing! I haven't got any pink layers but can only imagine the thrill. I do have one that lays a deep dark brownish pink though. I just love the different colors. -Sheila

Thanks for the compliments on the annual pot! I worked for a private gardener one summer many years ago and my job was to do the annual pots and take care of them all summer. They ordered truck loads of gorgeous and rare annuals for their customers. I WISH I had access to something more interesting, but I make due (sp?) with what the local nurseries sell.... geraniums, million bells, licorice, potato vines, petunias, etc... I have 2 of these pots in my back done the same way and every year all I do is change the color of the million bells and geranium. It always comes out nice, but I think I'm getting bored with the same design every year. Oops, sorry to go on... thanks!

BATS is an insecticide that causes the plant to become toxic to insects that feed on it. Bauer Advance Tree and Shrub is the name of the product and it works very well. Using indoors is pretty safe if you are careful but outdoors these products can easily poison bees and other good insects if you are not careful. Hi Sweet313! Yes, went with RT for kitchen and feel fortunate that we actually got our install and it worked out ok for us. The only exception being that we don't have any kind of warranty and when they shut down, they had our 1/2 slab that was left from the kitchen on hold as well as our $250 deposit. We got the money back via our CC, but lost any savings we had on the 1/2 slab (since we had bought it at the same time as our kitchen). Wow, the devistation they have left behind is unbelievable, saw at least 4 people in the shops today that had lost $$ to them. I'm so glad you did not go that route! We found two really good places in Shelby Twp that sit next to each other on 23 mile. Hard Rock & Detroit Granite, both were unaggressive sales, seemed VERY professional and accepted my terms of payment (10% deposit, 40% at measure & 50% after install). Both had a version of the granite we wanted at the same price, but we fell in love with the slab at Detroit. I think I'm going to have to go back over there to get a photo, it's just so pretty. It cost a lot more than we were expecting to pay, but wow, it's going to be the piece of resistance in the room! I can't wait! BTW, I've been watching for you to post but don't recall seeing anything...can you give an update on your granite? Did you find some, if so what did you choose and how do you like it?

The storm now is to hit my area between 1 and 3. I got all moved under cover that needs to be pampered. Hanging baskets all down. We really do need the rain tho...not hail.

I'm so sorry about your plants. The good news? I'm in illinois, and mine go through at least 3 of those kinds of hails.

It's always pathetic to see them afterwards, some of the leaves are just skeletons.

The rest look like they got hit with shrapnel.

But they come roaring back. It just beats the snot out of any blooms that are coming.

I hope you guys are ok, and everything makes it through!

Sorry. Just remember they will grow back. At least the critters are gone.

We are finally having gorgeous weather. I've been cleaning out the greenhouse, potting up seedlings and laying out in the sun working on my tan. It's in the mid 70's today and around 80 tomorrow. Woohoo!!!!!

I just walked around....My heart is heavy. It is worse that I imagined. This is my 1st hailstorm I remember that damaged the garden as it did. I guess I always missed out on the bad ones with moving around a lot lol

Had rescued a banana plant from the sales rack at Lowes. That poor thing I swear looked dead just like Caren's. It had grown TWO layers of leaves ready to get big ....well the hole plant looks worse then your banana plant Caren.

Chocolate Brug, you sure know how to bring sunshine in my day! That is such a beauty! Oh I was just thinking what hail would do to a Plumeria and that reminded me of the succulents in the wheelbarrow that REALLY made me cry. But now I have unique succulents I am sure only I got lol What a way to get one of a kinds.

Mary Jane I sure hope that you play it safe with this storm and going to games :-( I hope for your sake that by then you do not have no more storm!!

For the rest that were able to *rescue* your plants before the storms comes. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!

Next time they say we get hail...guess what I will try to do! Not that I would move my DH's car out from the carport rofl. But SHED here we come AGAIN lol

Man even the cellphones did not work during the storm. I tried to call hubby and warn him to take his beloved car somewhere under a cover. Before they put a fence around the building he works in, he used to drive it right in the building. Well I had to plug my regular phone back up and call him. I sure hope his car is ok or I will see a grown man cry today

Here comes the rain again. Let me go and close this and the doors

Hey sounds like you can still laugh, but I sure am sorry about your plants.
(more good news. I'm in Ga sun shining and 70!)
Hope everyone and their plants stay safe.
Hope the storm just got the leaves and hope things dry out soon!

Always remember...we learned the hard way when we evacuated for Rita and then had to use it while going thru the wild ride with Huricane IKE...When your phone calls can't go thru...texting ALWAYS works on your cell phone!!!! Good to know in an emergency!!!!

We just put all three vehicles in the garage, brugs & plumies are under cover...they still haven't cancelled the baseball games!!!

Our local reporter was doing a live report from Weimer...he said it sounded like someone was taking a baseball bat to the news truck during the hail storm!

Can you believe the MS-150 Bike Race btwn. Houston and Austin is still on--they said they will text the riders on their cell phones with weather info. while the race is on. Oh yea...that's where I'd want to be this weekend with these storms...on my bike!!!

I got the hail too but the worst damage it did was to my huge pink petunia. Its squashed flat but it will grow back. Sorry about your damage. I had already stripped some of mine and the others needed it anyway, lol. If Lucy Lou doesn't quit digging up my lotus I'm gonna boot her in the behind. This is the 3rd day I have found all the roots on the ground. Something about them must taste good. Gotta get some chicken wire to put over it before she kills it all.

Lucy I ma so sorry about your plants but you are okay and that makes me happy to hear :) I bet they bounce right back for you... High pressure system here. It is 76.3 and sunny :) Been potting stuff up all day and lugged them all out again... I think it is suppose to drop sunday boo hoo...We have had a bodaious week her..:)))) Hugs Barb

Lucy!!! I am sorry for the damage I have had to strip mine again due to the wind damage BUT Yes it will come back fast.. Thank Goodness we got some well needed rain!!!! We only got about an inch But All a Blessing!!!!

Thanks everyone. I just kept in mind like MJ said, that a lot of folks are in worse situations. It is however amazing how much damage little pellet size hail is doing to things. I was just happy that it was not the basel ball size hail. Sorry for anybody who had it :-(

THANKS for the texting info. Really good to know. Of course DH does not know how to answer them hahahahahaha Or maybe even read them ahahaha Besides, they had no hail out there.
