It will probably cost thousands to move it, but I have seen tv programs where it has been done. Try contacting a local arborist to see if they can give you some people to contact. I can't even begin to think what a mature olive specimen is worth.

Yes, mature olive trees can be moved. While there are (of course) no guarantees that your particular tree would survive a move, olive trees in general seem to be relatively well-adapted to such treatment.

This would clearly be a job for professionals, though, and I'm sure it would cost a least a few thousand dollars. (Although purchasing a large replacement specimen would be even more expensive.)

You're in luck, olives are one of the easiest plants to move when mature. I'm not saying it would be fun- just that if done by some one who knows what they're doing, the tree will probably come thru without being set back or dying. When I was a kid, my father built an elevated platform house for us to play in, and my mom talked him into planting a mature olive next to it to turn it into a "treehouse" That olive never browned a leave, and this was in Phoenix, where it is hot!

Olive trees have a lifespan estimated to be 500 years. I hope you are able to give your baby a chance.

Don't have any info re: moving the tree, but to avoid the falling olives do have a solution.
When the tree is in bloom blast it with spray from a hose - prevents the olives from forming. Not 100% effective, but certainly reduces the olive population signficantly.
