Here comes another one!

First let me say that I truly appreciate all the help I have received from this wonderful forum. I wish I had known about it years ago. Many thanks!

Here is another in a long line of inherited plants. A real beauty, however it was in a non-draining plastic pot in loamy soil. I don't know how it ever got this big. I have removed it, and the 10" pot you see it in now is larger than the root ball, which is suspended in the pot drying out. I will re-pot it in terra cotta. First...what might this monster be?

Second, it has few brown, mushy spots on a few sections. My guess is way too much moisture, but it may be disease of some sort.

Do I try to cut away the mush, remove the whole section (don't like that idea) or just leave it alone until the plant has a chance to dry out?
