Woohoo! Congratulations : )From when they first develop they take a while to open. The slow part is waiting for the bud to grow out of the calyx, after that it opens pretty quick and the color usually changes over a couple days, sometimes dramatically. An example is a Frosty Pink blossom that opens yellow and changes to pink over the course of about 48 hours. Before I knew about the color change I thought that my FP was labeled incorrectly when I saw the first flower.

My wife thinks I am kind of crazy. She has never seen a bloom/flush. I am excited. I lost count long ago of how many I had. Well over 100. They survived the gopher attack. I do no think they like them anymore. They are all green and growing fast.

I guess I will just watch the little baby. The others should be blooming soon. Thanks.

It is a little bud about 3" long. It is my first, so it is special. I will take a picture when it finally makes it.

Hi Jim,
Is that bloom going to be from the ones you grew in the bucket? The cuttings you sent me are doing just fine. I planted some of them in the ground this past weekend and the rest I put into big pots. As a matter of fact the ones I put in the ground I put in a flower bed I made and named "The Jeep Garden" Of course it was named after you. LOL (I thought you would get a kick out of that. They are about 12" tall but all have about 6 to 8 new leaves.
Can't wait to see pictures of your 1st bloom.

"Jeep Garden" I feel honored. Thanks, Jardinera. I hope they grow big and put out tons of flowers. I am not sure which batch this is from. It lost its tag. I do also write on the cutting so I have to get down and look. There is a race of sorts another plant decided to bloom and has buds now. I guess it is that time of year. My plants are adjusting. With 60 mph winds. Then today 85+ and a 30 mph north wind full sun and all the trees (oaks) dropped their leaves. It was a plant bake. Welcome to South Texas. They all needed more water.

You need a good root system to survive down here. Grimaldi's are the winner so far. I modified my plant scheme and added another 25 Grimaldi's. They are big and brawny. They seem to never look tattered from the wind. I do have my camera ready for my 1st flower.

While I am here. Free Seeds. I have way too many fresh 1-3 month old oleander seeds, Brazilian pepper Tree seeds and Palm seeds. All are hardy to 20 degrees. I hate to see them go to waste.

Well its been 10+ days since I noticed a bud. Now there are 4-5 plants with buds. Brungs in the sand are a little tricky this time of year. 1st it is not enough water , then it is too much, then it gets hot and the wind blows 30+ mph for 3 days, then it is too much water and it rains for 3 days. Then it is gophers etc; well I found out my brugs love copper fungicide, I sprayed the root area and decided to spray some leaves on a plant that leaves were yellow and streaky. After I made my rounds I went back and its leaves were green again. So I made another round and sprayed everyones leaves. My how pretty the became. They have never looked this good before.

I am learning the little tricks of making them look good. I am going to try some beneficial nematodes later this week. I will spray 1 dose 2000 sq ft coverage. I guess all of my plants will begin flowering soon.

Glad to hear they are doing well despite weird/adverse weather. They really are a hardy plant and can tolerate much of what MN throws at them. Just wait until each tree is covered with huge flushes of blooms. My CG's had almost continuous flushes last year. I have others that bloom well but none can match the CG for number and frequency of blooms. I'm sure there are others that do equally well but I haven't found them yet. Remember to post a pic of your first bloom. Do you know the variety?

I believe so they are all marked. I just have not taken the time to double check. The weather is not strange this is south texas it changes by the hour this time of year. I just need to find a middle ground. I am looking for it. I have not killed them yet which is good. I would like to be organic but am having to use the shot gun approach until I get it right. Small plants make big errors. I do have my camera ready I hope it will be one of many pictures to remember. I have put a lot of time and effort into it. The South Texas coast is pretty unforgiving if you make a mistake.

Update, I have about 7 plants with buds and they were starting to open then a cold front. Highs in the 60's the next few days. I hate to wait. I checked a few they are Dr. Seuss x 3, Jean Pasco, Amber rose, and the others I have not looked at yet to id. Still waiting on the 1st bloom.

I was reading the posts and I noticed you offered free seeds. I am very new with brugs--only have two. While visiting Florida last year a wonderful GW member gave me two cuttings (she even brought them over!) but as I was almost certain they would both do fine, I realized one cutting did not make it--but the other one did! Anyway, that was a side story :) Going back to the seeds...do you still have any available? Thanks a lot

Just a few survivors of the spider mites and wind. The Dr. Seuss was rocking so hard it started throwing flowers at me.It was even staked. So I brought the ones that hit the ground in. The other little ones are Jean Pasco trying to bloom and the last pic was the one with the 1st bud it did flower but died real fast. It has one more bloom almost as big as it is. Well anyway my yard is smelling great Brugs and jasmine blooming.I cannot wait until they get larger. My others are stuggling but will make it. They are naked. I stripped all the foilage. But they are looking happy today.

Lookin good. I love the jasmine and brug scents. Jasmine during the day and brugs at night. It's weird but my brugs have no smell during the day, even when I put my nose right up to them but the minute dusk hits their perfume fills the air.
