Actually, that's just the tip of the iceberg! That auction dragged on until almost midnight. Thank goodness some people stayed, but they really need to come up with a better system (and a better auctioneer!)

I attended the auction and donated some rare divisions. NO they were not lowly mericlones but rare original division donated by highly respectable growers like myself. Unfortunately, I didn't write down what each plant went for, but some plants were sold for a fair price while others (of course the most rare) went for high prices. Some plants were bought a real steal. The main thing is that it (the auction) benefitted the AOS directly and to add to the AOS heritage collection fund. I did manage to buy some very rare plants myself and was quite happy. It was as wonderful event. A weekend of meeting some of the greatest orchid growers and AOS members ever. And to spend time at the DuPont Hotel and Longwood Gardens was as treat and an honor.

Hi Patris, Here we are back home already,and I'm hoping we can all get together again maybe next year at some Florida or Texas Brom function. It was really enjoyable at Ft.L. As to your plant,I somewhat agree with Paul,but am leaning more toward a cross of O.gurkenii with O.magalhaesii,called O.'Mother Lode'. It's probably more available than O.magalhaesii,I think. There is another cultivar by name of O.'Warren Loose',which has the same appearence,but I think has more of a brown tone to it. There's a pic of the three on fcbs,so you be the judge. I'll bet Stephania will be of help too,as I think he has them in his collection. I was eyeing your plant at the sale too,but I'm happy you have it. Wow. I especially like the bursera and your Fouquieria diguettii. Great pots, too. You can definitely get bonsai pots around here no problem, but to find what I consider 'succulent' pots is very difficult in the northeast. Anyone else find that? If you don't want to go traditional bonsai pots...I am pretty much stuck with straight out terra cotta as the alternative. Very annoying. Sorry to vent. Great plants, C. T

jaga,see my last post for what I picked up,and Lisa's right,it was way too long and late. I did'nt get to photo all the plants,as it was crowded,and dinner was being served.

The show chair let things lag on and then THE talk from Chester was longer then expected, but well worth it !! I'm friends with the photographer so when he has the pictures ready I'll try to get him to post a bunch here with some words to match.
