I've been known to use those huge solid round laundry tubs that you can get at walmart very cheap(they have rope handles-you can take off). I painted a few with terra cotta paint and you really cant tell what they were before lol. They just look like all the other plastic terra looking pots but huge! I grew bananas and brugmansias in them last year. Just make sure to drill large holes in the bottoms.

We have a recycling system here in Ontario, Canada and so I just went to the seasonal garden centers and grabbed as many plastic containers in the recycling area, as I could possibly get. I did find that garden centers do charge a lot for their pots - so why bother to buy pots if I could get them for free. If you continue to find problems securing these pots, I would suggest that you go to the dollar store instead and grab disposable coffee cups. I used the styrofoam kinds last season which worked well. For 1 dollar (at least here in Canada, it's 1 dollar per a bag of 25) And if this doesn't work, try to get used pop (gallon sized) bottles which you can cut in half and use it as pots. I use these to winter sow new seeds - which works like miniature cold frames.
