Editor, I am so happy to see your great start. Remember to post your container count on the official thread. It truly is addicting, and seeing you excitement brings back memories of my first season. I am very happy for you. I really hate to do this, and I REALLY hope my suspicions are wrong, but I have to ask you something about those lovely containers. Do they say anywhere on them, in tiny print, that they are made of corn? I bought organic greens at Sam's last year and was really excited about the container. It turns out it was made of corn (yeah, corn?) and melted into a shapeless mess when washed in hot water. I set them outside to see what would happen and the sun destroyed them. I really hope that's not the same thing you have, but if it is, better to find out now before the season gets too far along. Hoping to be wrong, Seedmama

mnwsgal, why do you try to overwinter your thyme inside? Is it not hardy in your zone? I thought thyme was a winter-hardy plant, and it is for me here in zone 6, but you are two zones colder than I am so I was just wondering. Or do you just want fresh thyme inside for winter use? :) I cut a bunch of it every fall and dry it in paper bags. My husband (the cook in the house) loves to use it and most of it is gone by spring. I have a co-worker who seems to grow *everything* indoors! I give her plants that I would never think of having inside and she'll tell me a few weeks later that such-and-such a plant is doing wonderfully... in her bathroom! LOL! Or some unexpected place like that. She *does* have a condo, so I guess circumstances are different for her, but it amazes me what she can grow indoors, since I kill everything the minute it comes over the threshhold. But the reason I mention her is that she grew a rosemary plant I gave her in her bathroom - she put it there last spring and it is still doing well. Perhaps the humidity is what it needs? She says she loves the smell when she gets out of the shower. Me, I'd be a little hesitant to actually eat it, living in the bathroom as it does, lol... :) Dee

Not sure what seeds I am looking for exactly. All I know is l love most all of them! I have all of the herbs that I use on a regular basis. I have the usual black eye susans, purple cornflowers, lilies, iris, hostas etc. I seem to lean towards wild flowers, poppies, blanket flowers and such. I have a bed with different grasses. Last year I planted dahlias, they were beautiful, but I didn't care for lifting and drying the bulbs. However this year I did plant dahlia seeds and they sprouted and I have them planted. This year I started asters, violas, pansies, bachelor button. I did collect some seed from cone flower poppies and flax and allium. Allium did not sprout, nor did the white cone flower. I also started balloon flower. I started hollyhock, with minimal results. Been babying that one. I also had one Bells if Ireland sprout. Am hoping that will take off. I tried the green wizard rudbeckia Cant remember the rest right now. My list is not in front of me. Will be attending a local plant exchange in a few weeks and will come home with a load of different plants. Last year my trunk was full as well as the floor of my car. The people I have met at this exchange were so nice and knowledgeable and generous. I came home with much more than I took. Its almost like an addiction! With that being said, I need to get my butt outside and watch my garden grow!! Diane

Christie Do you remember or can you tell me what bloomed for you best the first year? Lets see if I can remember I need to keep better notes ") zinnia, bachelor buttons, rose moss, gaillarida, cleome, cocks comb, marigold, cosmos, balsam impatients, the hollyhocks were about 2 or 3 years old but I did have some new ones bloom but they didn't get as tall, african daisy, morning glories I think that's all but it has been a long summer. My cone flowers didn't bloom or either did my dianthias. Terren, GREAT IDEA !!! if you fold back one end on itself when applying the tape, it makes a little tab you can grab to pull it off more easily. I will for sure do that this year LOL I ended up using a single edge razor blade to cut the tape. I am glad to have good results to show off tee-hee-hee, I asked alot of ?'s. & got alot of good answers & seeds from several people, I should have been better at keeping notes so I could thank everyone personally but I hope that they see this & know that their time & seeds were not wasted.
