Bromeliad Extravaganza - Roll Call

I figured I'd start up a new thread to grab everyone's attention.

So the plan as I understand it is to meet up at 12 between seminars and enjoy some fine south Florida pizza (ok, maybe palatable is a better word). Are we going to meet out by the pool or at Michael's? I'd feel a little awkward lugging pizzas into the sales area so I think I'll end up going straight to the pool.

How about we get a list going too of definite people. Just copy and paste the list from the previous poster so I don't miss out on anybody for food.

Oh yeah . . how excited is everybody? I wish I was going to make the talk, especially after reading the Skotak article.

LOL! Carol, don't worry about Stella. In this house (according to her) it's all about Stella! Those two cats are still rolling around in the catnip, and enjoying a bite of it too, from time to time. I've got a couple of stoners here! I tried to hide the package from them, but they found it while I was at work and "spread the love" all over the office while I was at work. I swept it back up, but they'll probably be into it again today. Who needs cable when I've got Bump and Stella for entertainment? ((chuckle)) And the birthday goes on! This is sooo cool! Yesterday I received 2 great cards in the mail, one from Sue/suecirish and one from Andrea/appaloosa909. They both had some great seeds in them. THANK YOU LADIES!!! After this month, I kind of pity the seed companies. I don't think I'll be making a seed order for next year. I'm getting plenty of seeds from my friends here on the GW! Lol!..... Dirty, I do not have a greenhouse. Most years, I have to be a little careful, but most of my broms are planted in pots or the ground and live under the magnolia and live oaks trees. The clumps I've planted at the base of crape myrtle trees require me to throw a sheet or large towel over them. But this past winter, I had it easier than ever. For the first time in the 15 years I have lived in this house, we had no hard freeze at all. It was truly wonderful, as this was the first year I did not start out spring with cooked spinach (what I call frozen plants) all over the yard. My broms have all been pretty tough, anyway. I get the occasional freeze-burned leaves and leaf-tips, but generally the entire plant is not dead. Of course, I don't water them at all during winter except for whatever God wants to throw their way. Yours may be a little tougher than you think? Carol

Okay, let's make it poolside and avoid the congestion in the sales area. I'll look for whoever is holding a pizza box!

Getting pretty excited; going over my "don't forget" list and my wish list. We haven't been off-island in years, so we're both looking forward to seeing some new things and meeting some new people!

Well, bummer, I made the wrong reservations. I'm going to Italy tomorrow morning. But I think I'll be able to find pizza, just no pizza box. And few bromeliads. : (
Have a ton of fun, friends, and I expect to see many many photos!!! With faces, not just bromeliads, but the bromeliads are important, don't misunderstand me. (Oh, I wish I could go to that Skotak talk! Lisa and Chester can settle the score...)

I wish I had been into bromeliads earlier... I didn't really get started until five years ago... this forum was so much fun in it's heyday. Did you all meet up?

I'm working my way through all of the old threads. So much incredibly good information here. I really want to say how much I despise Photobucket, though, for what they did.
