Yes it is beautiful here today, too, in the 60s. But I can't clean up the yard because the heat is still working on melting the knee deep snow we got on Friday. Can't wait til its nice enough to get out there and pick up all the sticks and clean up, and I especially can,t wait until it's time to plant. I am soooo excited to see what my new brugs are going to look like in bloom, how big they will get, what they will smell like, etc... The 2 I had last summer were like a tease and I can't wait to see my ones from GW members bloom and I have a few more that I want to buy.

oh you lucky girls, we had our warm days Saturday and Sunday. It is chilly and raining here today. Of all days I am having my floors tiled (riping the carpet out of my house) So I have nervous dogs to contend with that cant go out side. This ought to be fun to keep them off the tile that is already laid.

It was beautiful here yesterday and today untill it
started raining, I was doing the same thing....out cleaning
the yard and checking to see if anything was poking thier
heads above the ground and "YES"!!! I saw some daffs coming
up! Cant be long now till spring, these warm days just make

Let me see where do I want to start.

I'm not happy it's raining and cold here today. That of course after it has been in the 70's and 80's for about a week. Everything is up and growing like gang busters and we have a chance for a freeze tonight and snow tomorrow. Now you see why I'm not happy. I guess I'll put on my raincoat and go cover up my hostas that Brenda sent me. They are growing like crazy and now this mess.

The saying here in Texas is if you don't like the weather stick around a couple of days and it will change. LOL

Linda, I would love some of your catmint, and lemon balm. I have rosemary and basil but that's about it as far as herbs are concerened. I use to have a big herb bed when I lived in Carollton. Oh, that's a mighty big dog you got for a pet. 150 lbs, thats as big as a person or bigger.

Mary, at least your going to have a nice new tile floor. Keep a towel by the back door to wipe the dogs feet with. That way you will not have to do nearly as much mopping.LOL

Pagdner, I'm sure you will have plenty of blooms this year from all your brugs.

I just went out to turn the heat on in the greenhouse and I nearly had a heartattack. I haven't looked inside in several days. My brugs have more than doubled in size since about 3 days ago. Some of them need transplanted AGAIN (now)
They are huge and so are their leaves. They must of liked the heat and the water and fertilizer I gave them the other day. (smile)

Karen, Glad you have some bulbs starting to wake up. It just cheers one up so much to see them in full bloom. Yelp, I think spring is just around the corner.

zone 5 and you had 70s and 60s today? it was 40s here. I think the zone changes were wildly inaccurate.

ugh this is maddening! I want it to be tolerable out so my house will be warmer than 50 something degrees for the first time in months...

Today was beautiful! Just about 70 with lots of sunshine. All of a sudden all the spring bulbs are coming up. It shouldn't be long now. It's only supposed to stay warm until Thursday but I'm definitely going to take advantage of it. I took a ride to the big GH today and started trimming up the plants in there. All my brugs are breaking dormancy along with lots of other plants. My citrus trees are covered in buds and the oranges look ripe, finally.

I'm thrilled for you Karyn. But I do have a very important question for you. Is there anything that you DON'T GROW?

Now what all kind of citrus trees do you grow? I have a lemon tree. Well let's say I had a lemon tree. Last year I took it in for the winter and it never bloomed. I read up somewhere that it needed so many hours of cold weather so I decided if it need it, it would have it. I left it out this winter and it looks like it's still alive. I guess only time will tell. I would love to have an orange tree. Maybe that's something I can start from an orange seed. What do you think?

I grow a few varieties of dwarf citrus, a couple lemons Mayer and variegated pink, Kaffir Lime, Buddha's Hand citron, Satsuma, unknown orange, Flying Dragon and a tangerine. I think that's all. I'm still looking for a sour orange called Bergamot. I could buy it but I'd rather find a cutting.

I've wanted kaffir lime forEVER. is it easily rooted from cuttings? what kind of care does it need?

I had my lemon tree in the garage. It was the last thing to come inside and its close to the door so its cooler there. It was just starting to bloom last week and I looked in on it yesterday and it was nearly defoliated and the blooms had little black aphids or something all over it. I am used to seeing the greenish ones on the roses and hibiscus. These are new for me. I drug it outside and sprayed it with the hose before they get on anything else. It is coooold outside right now (Frown) I miss the warm weather we have been having.

I saw a lemon tree once, it was at Lowes a couple years ago. The flowers smelled wonderful. I didn't get it because I didn't think I could care for a plant that had to stay in a pot & couldn't handle frost. I can hear you all laughing & I am too as I now have dozens of brugs that I do the exact same thing I wasn't willing to do for one lemon. LOL

ria, I had 50s here Sunday, and Monday morning was 56, and then promptly slid back down to 33 in the afternoon.

I haven't tried taking cuttings from the Kaffir Lime but most citrus are easy to propagate from cuttings. Ria send me an email through my AOL address. It's still warm, 58 at 5:30 am but it's supposed to start with bad T storms tonight throughout tomorrow and then get cold again : (

Was perfect here yesterday, 63 deg, 17 warmer than out average, and only 3 away from our record high. Of course I was outside ALL day. SOOOO hard not to pull off the leaf covers from the beds. Last night it only went down to 52!! Was 54 when I woke up this morn! Almost 60 today, but we're gettin rain later..under a flood watch..blech! Thank god we dont get serious floods in my town. Was havin a hard time not takin the leaf covers off this morn too..peekin at everything poppin up, more green than I expected..daffs, tulips, hyacinths, lilies (tallest ones are about 7/8" already!), irises, columbines, foxgloves, some unknown bulbs, snow on the mountain, O I could go on. Anyhoo..hubby looked at me like I was nuts and said "You dont think we're gonna get any more frosts?!" He prob saved my lil babies from my impatience. So I just sat there and sulked, staring at the green stuff poppin through all those brown dead leaves. lol.
