This one that I never hear of. I have 24 different, this is probably a phony name. Can you give me any more information. I will be glad to send you a piece if I have it, I may, but it does not go by that name. It's not listed in
Gordon Rowley Crassula book, which I helped create with my plants and John Trager's photos of my plants. It may be somethning new. I have a red "Ruby' but the leaves are flat I do have 'Hummles Sunset' and 'Crosby's Sunset' neither of these plants has anything to do with the plant you are describing. I also have'Skinny Finger' which a trumpet like smaller form of 'Gollum'. or 'Hobbit' which are sports. other then this Ed Hummel may have created them. Norma

I realize now that I mixed the cultivar name with another plant I was looking at online....oops! Thank you for correcting me. What I meant is the 'red horn tree'. If anyone has a cutting they are willing to part with, please let me know!

Oh boy, now I'm asking for it, but how is Crosby's sunset different from Hummel's sunset?

I think the name 'Red Horn Tree' is actually one used in Europe more than here, but I could be wrong. Not very common here at all, to my knowledge.

I believe it is Crassula 'Crosby's Compact' (not sunset). Could be someone is naming things whatever they feel like. I don't believe it's a valid name.

C. 'Red Horn Tree' may be just that...a made up name. All plants I've seen are like my regular C. 'Hobbit', that color up in California sun. I am not aware of the plant being validly named in Europe.

Rosemarie, the 'Red Horn Tree' is the 'Hummel's Sunset' version of the 'Hobbit,' with much more vivid color and some unique leaf variations, to boot! 'Hobbit' does color up very nicely, indeed, but not to the electric level of the 'Red Horn' :-)

Okay, I found a photo online in a French forum, showing the colors like you see in a Crassula 'Hummel's Sunset'. See link below to the photo of C. 'Red Horn Tree'. They call it: Crassula ovata monstruosa 'Red Horn Tree'.

I don't have this plant either but can see why you want it now. By that photo that Rosemarie tracked down (btw, thanks for that. Helped tremendously!!!) I can also put it on my wish list. Love the colors and form. Best of luck tracking it down.

Now that pic you uploaded, Reggie, has just a hint of the yellow that could be found in a 'Hummel's Sunset', but if I didn't know I was looking at a 'Red Horn Tree', I'd say that looks like my regular Crassula 'Hobbit'. Let's hope they have the multicolored beauty available int he U.S. soon! :D

The cultivar name is a valid one and it is not just a colored up version of Hobbit. I know I have addressed this at least once before. The cultivar 'Red Horn Tree' is a clone that was found in the Netherlands and spread from there. I grow both and there is a distinct difference. Cheers Glen

Another interesting cultivar I have seen is the variegated golum known as 'Legolas'?
(I hope I got this name right....)

I do know the cv 'Legolas' as I am the one who found and named it! I do not have any of it available and have only given or sold just a few cuttings. I listed some on a site that shall not be named but nobody seemed interested.
