What can I expect this year with my Prickly Pear pad?

Hi everyone

Last July I was able to get a pad off of a prickly pear. After learning the hard way about glochids I was able to pot it and I suppose it did ok because it is still green and firm.

It sat in a kitchen window over the winter and finally it is back out in the sun. I have it in the same clay pot that I first planted it in. It's an 8" pot if I am not mistaken.

Should I expect to see it try and grow new pads this year or should that have already happened? I am pretty clueless about it to be honest so I was hoping that someone with experience could tell me about their opuntia pad and its growing habits.

Thanks
