I've successfully wintersown other amaranthus, not "autumn", but if other amaranths work well that one probably will too. I've also had success with snapdragons and sweet peas. Lavender has been successful but germination rate low for me. I've not done the others on your list.

I've direct sown crape myrtles and lavender. So wintersowing should work fine. Welcome to the forum.

Last year I did snaps they did really well. I also did the yarrow I have several small clumps and am looking forward to seeing them bloom next year.

I've grown pawpaw from seed before. The seeds may need a long stratification time, around 90days. That's the time frame I found in literature and that's what I have used.
I stratified them in the fridge, if you're going to winter sow those, then I recommend getting them out there ASAP. Also those seeds cannot dry out or they probably won't germinate. Again, this is from literature and I have never allowed mine to dry out as a result, but if they sent you dried seed I recommend you request a refund (hopefully the seed supplier know about this)

Forgot to say you also need a deep container for pawpaw, I used orange juice containers (the cardboard ones) and that they need protection from full sun for a while (I used tree tubes as they are pretty inexpensive and do this).

midwesternerr, thanks so much for the info. The seeds are just slightly moist, I'm hoping it's enough that they didn't dry out. I already put them outdoors in a juice container like you advised. Hopefully all works out well! Your advice is most appreciated!

Annette, I'm excited to hear another person had success with snaps! Do you know how long does it take for yarrow to bloom?

Amaranthus, after 1st year self-sows
Coral Bells
Astilbe from fresh seed from my plants, no germination from traded seeds
Rockcress
Snapdragon, I ws new varieties each year, others self-sow after 1st year
Marsh mallow
Lavender
Lady's Mantle
Climbing Sweet Pea

Haven't tried any of the others.

Welcome skinnylegs. I am a newbie to winter sowing, too. I am very excited about it. I have bought a ton of seeds and can't wait till tomorrow to start sowing.
