It to tall because of lack of sun and probably to much sun as well, this plant may not be an Echevieria but perhaps a Paraguensis ?(spelling) which is a relative. The leaves will be gray and the tip may be white. The flowers are white or yellow with a spot of red on the tips of petals.
It makes a lovely basket plant. But it really needs all the sun you have. Cut down on water now, and take off a few of the bottom leaves and see if they will root if you lay them on top of the soil. In the Spring you can cut off the head leaving about 3 inches of stem, start with new dry soil, and push the stem all the way down in there, don't water for about two weeks. Save the old stem in the pot and continue to water after you see new leaves popping out. It looks great with many in the same pot, and it's okay if it falls down. Norma

I agree with Norma that it may actually be a Graptopetalum paraguayense, which is a similar to Echeveria, but does grow long stems. The leaves look a bit too thick to be an Echeveria. Your plant can easily be propagated from cuttings, and even individual leaves that break off will form new plants under the right conditions.

Your plant actually looks pretty good for being indoor grown with less than ideal light; outdoors in full sun this plant is very much more compact with little to no exposed stem showing. As Norma says, it looks great when grown in mass and allowed to drape over the edges of the pot, I have had stems elongate as much as 3 feet long yet retain tight foliage all along the stems where I grow it in very large raised containers/pots as an understory plant to cycads such as Encephalartos. I also like using it with orchids and bromeliads in hanging baskets, and it does equally well here outdoors in bright shade or full hot sun, with just occasional water or daily irrigation as long as it is well drained. One tough plant that is really adaptable.

I have this REALLY badly etiolated echeveria (or sedum, maybe) that I got at Oddlots. It's badly etiolated because I got it at Oddlot's *fake* plant section. Obviously, fake plants don't need light, whereas the single NON-fake plant there did. As a result, I have tight, compact rosettes... on four inch long stems.

Compared to that, yours looks fine :)

Hello everyone, and thank you for your replies. I really like the pot too (got it at Sunset Nursery in Los Angeles), but it sounds like I may have to move the plant into a larger or rather wider pot to make room for some offspring ;)

@bahia: The plant is outdoors, not indoors, but you and Norma are correct about it not getting enough light. It's on my front porch, which unfortunately faces north, so it's always in the shade.

@Norma: Thank you for your advice. Do I shove the leaves I remove into the soil or simply lay them on top of the soil? Also, what will happen to the old stem after I cut off the head? And do I leave the remaining leaves that are on the old stem (the ones I haven't removed) as they are?
