Hello all,

Reading about mention of this phenomenon, but can't seem to find if there is one place on this site that shows past ones. Would like to read what has been done, and how to participate.

Not that Zone 5 needs any help, but I've got 15 containers, with several more on the way!

JerseyPurl zone 6 Please add 90 jugs for a total of 113. For those of you keeping score at home.... January 11 - 23 jugs -- sowed perennials and annuals (newbie mistake) from the newbie donation program, most have sprouted. February 1- 41 jugs -- perennials, most have sprouted. All of the above sat under a foot+ snow all winter :D April 12 - 17 jugs -- 16 annuals that have all sprouted (yay!) and 1 perennial (that I forgot about) that I think is sprouting - it's hard to see :) April 24 - 28 jugs -- all annuals, a few have sprouted already. May 1 - 4 jugs -- stay tuned... This was a lot of fun! Thank you for running these zone wars and to everyone who contributed to the newbie seed program. JerseyPurl :D

Also between what dates count? I started about 20 containers of seeds that say they benefit from a warm-cold-warm period so I started them a little bit earlier! From my first time last year, I remember I did pretty many and there wasn't anything over a 1,000 I think so I doubt there is any bigger nursery folks doing it! lol just alot of people like me who have tons of time to keep racking those containers up! lol I would say maybe the top person from each zone? or top 3 people in the zone that won? I don't remember any prize last month except bragging rights ;) so I think anyone will be happy with any sort of prize you can do!! Can't wait :) ~Michael heavenlyfarm

ladyrose, thank you so much for doing the count this year. I did not WS nearly as much as I usually do, but I still checked the count almost every day, as I have for all the years it's been kept. It's fun to see what others are doing and to have a friendly competition. Whewww, this is tiring... I hate to see how tiring it is in the spring when it's time to plant everything. I'm glad my hubby has more energy than me since he does most of my planting. :-)

My kiddos have kept me super busy lately but I've mananged some "quiet time" with my dirt & seeds..... I've sown 146 total now! Can't wait for the "green wave" to roll in!!!!

I am giving winter sowing a try this year, newbie in Zone 7, NC - I currently have 14 containers outside on my deck. Hoping for more, many more! Now to search the forum on container and labeling options. Looking forward to learning lots and having fun this season with some fellow wsowers! :) - Lisa, NC Zone 7

7 containers planted in Zone 7! It was so nice to get my hands in the soil again. Since this is my first year trying WSing I'm a little nervous. I'll be so excited and relieved to see the first green sprouts!

My brother says the neighbors keep asking about my containers. "What are those things again?" Ugh. Durn chain link fencing. They do look awesome under the snow, though. Shnow!

Hi everyone ! I am new to the wintersowing forum but not new to GW ... I wintersowed in 2009 but not last year ... I missed it this past spring sooo... I just received some awesome seeds in the Secret Santa swap so I retrieved all the milk jugs and 2 liter bottles out of our recycle bin and got started ! I sowed 13 containers this afternoon so I'd like to add 13 to Zone 7 if I may ;-) and nice to meet all you, I've been enjoying reading the threads , very inspiring ! I need to hit up all my friends for their plastic containers ;-)

I now am up to 32 containers on deck :) - I have more ready for seed, some in the sink draining.. hoping to add a few more to Zone 7's total as time passes.
