Come on over and let me share the overwhelmed joy I have ever since a dear friend send me this GORGEOUS gorgeous air plants.

Got them 2 days ago and immediately knew I wanted to hook them up with the sea shells from Florida. Those seem to be made a match in FLORIDA lol

It is amazing how nicely they are spreading their leaves now that they are getting their moisture.

I hope that everyones day will be as special as these plants are to me.

O they are so pretty! I didnt know they could be so colorful! I like the shells in there as well..that would look great in my under the sea bathroom, which right now is a seed house, lol. om gosh, that reminds me that I have babies to pot up today! Saw their lil heads touching the tops of the domes last night.
Hey Lucy how is that castor bean seedling doing you had a pic up of? my seedlings are just getting their first sets of true leaves, and are aprox 8" tall..man they grow fast, lol. Yours has got to be about 18" by now?

Hi David, A lot of tillandsias do fine in terrariums as long as they're not sitting in damp media for long periods of time. If your pebble bedding stays super damp you might wind up with some rot. It is usually safer to prop them up on some driftwood or anything similar. The only problem with enclosed terrarium setups is the lack of airflow. Most tillandsias prefer at least some air movement. They also like a lot of sunlight, so depending on how near yours are to the window you might find them craving more sun. Personally, I'm a fan of dunking, but this is because I grow them out in the open and they dry out pretty quick after a dunk. Misting is perfectly fine as long as you keep up with it and make sure they're not slowly dehydrating (curling leaves and/or browning tips). It really depends on the humidity of where you're growing them. Enclosed terrariums usually have high humidity, so some occasional misting might be enough to keep them happy. Generally the basic tillandsia formula is lot-o-sun + good airflow + high humidity = happy epiphyte

A little late to the party, but I feel pretty confident on #1 and #5. #1 - T. Harrisii #5 - T. Tricolor These two are really common on the market and I've seen them put in Tillandsia bundles more than once. I think #4 could be identified pretty easily if you could get a better picture so the colors can be seen. It looks like it has a flower spike which makes it pretty easy to narrow down. Edit: Should clarify since my ID's conflict with yours for #1. I'm pretty sure #1 isn't abdita since their leaves turn red very early on in their life cycle. I also have to pull my first guess as abdita for #3, you might be right with capitata on that one. From the side it looks like it's starting to get that trademark capitata "head." Those are my favorite. Aren't they beautiful? I have never seen anything like them here. Gonna have to visit Florida soon, lol. The colors are awesome and they good in the seashells. I have mine with my orchid.

Lucy, those are amazing! Love the tricolor, the colors are so vivid and the shape of the white one is very pretty too. The eye always goes to color first and those are screaming "Look at me" Like the way you have the seashells with them. Noticed you mimic the colors in the picture frame too. Very pretty POTD.

Daniella when you see them in real life..they just take your breath away! My daughter in Orlando even loves it so much, that she thinks it will make great teachers gifts ;-) As to ALL my seedlings...especially the vines ...they are climbing up my curtains roflmao. SPRING where are you??

The 2 year castor bean plant I have outside in the corner is again starting to get new leaves. This is so amazing. I will have a castor bean jungle this year lol

Bob............oh Bob you know you are so lucky to be right there in Florida and get to live with them year round! I hope they will do well and ohhhhhhhhh ohhh guess what? I could not believe my eyes when I looked at them today and saw that the Tillandsia Stricta , the white flower...is getting little purple growth out of each spike? !!!Got to take a update picture and post it here!!

I will go take a pic. Been a crazy busy day. They look just like yours and yes I will place an order. They are amazing! I am going to try to get some stuff when we go to Hawaii too. I hope I can mail some things back home. They are pretty strict now on taking things back on the plane. I spent 3 hours today cleaning a nasty van and will probably take me a whole day to detail it. That was just getting all the trash out and vacuming it. Anybody know how to get honey out of a cupholder? How gross can some people be. I have to go to work early anyway. One of our customers is in the hospital and when the wife took their car somewhere for an oil change today now it will barely run so I am going to loan them mine to pick him up since he is being discharged tomorrow after a hip replacement. Hopefully we can fix it before they have to go but I don't know whats wrong with it yet.

Its a van we got to fix up and sell for extra money. I knew it had a lot of trash in the floor but I didn't know there was spilled coffee and soda and melted candy under the trash allllll over the whole van. I had to actually take out the seats to clean it. Taking the steam cleaner to work with me. It was really gross. Having a bad morning with phone calls from you know who. The herbal drops saved me. Thanks Lucy. I'll give you a call and see if you want me to take the day lillies to work with me.
