Yume mitai is flowering for christmas present

Hello You all! I hope You did survive the christmas dinners and all the rest of the holidays!

Here is one of my christmas presents, my amaryllis gave to me.

Yume mitai is making 2 flowerbuds and the first stalk is now flowering.

She is a real dream

The other thing that makes me happy, is that

Devils smile, another japanese variety is making her first stalk after 3 years. i did never see her fowering before and did order her only by the name. :-)

Your Yume Mitai is very beautiful how luck you are, since this has bloomed before if I'm correct...

And I love Devil's Smile already, it looks like it will be a beauty, be sure to post when the devil does decide to smile!

Well, as long as we keep buying them they will keep cutting leaves and scapes. The last 4 bulbs I bought all had cut leaves and or scapes cut but they did it high enough so I think they will be fine. My Calypt Parodii bud was cut in half and I could still see the remains of the 4 blossoms!! They just keep coming up with these prettier varieties and we just know they will come with cut leaves and scapes but being the addicts that we are, we just can't stop can we...;-) I was really bad the last time and I'd better get myself to the Post Office before hubby gets the mail and brings home this huge box!! I got a bit carried away and this time I am sitting on my hands.. for the time being...when these things go off in the wee hours of the morning that kind of excludes me... None of my boxes have been opened or inspected and I am still amazed that they come in two days!! I am going to do as Frank does and plant these in community pots as they will take up less room. I just can't give them each their own digs until they root up which some of my earlier ones are now doing. I lost the last of my 4 pods on Lemon Gold but when I checked her bottom today she had a nice thick root sticking out! Yume Mitai as well as September Rose Line are also starting to send out roots. I got home last night and here is what has bloomed from my Lowes specials. 2 of the 3 aphrodite have bloomed and both are aphrodite( just beautiful). Of the 3 minerva 2 have bloomed one is a orange soverign, and the other was apple blossom. Of the 3 Apple Blossoms, 1 has bloomed it was Apple Blossom. Of the 3 Vera, one has bloomed and it was Vera, of the 3 Lady Jane, one has bloomed and it was Lady Jane, of the 6 susan, 1 has bloomed and it was Lady Jane, of the 6 Prince Carnivals, 1 has bloomed , I have no idea what it is. The stem is very tall over 20 inches it towers over the other plants. It is dark red, with a small white throat, and the outside is dark red w/white streaks. My husband took a picture of it, while I was at the coast. Looks like a few will bloom this week, I will post the results as I get them. Nothing is blooming at the coast, I have them in the ground with mulch, it was 30 degrees for almost 5 days. The leaves took a hit, but it looks like they are coming back since the weather is back int he high 60's. Debbie, I received your lovely package today. There is no need to apologize for being late. I thought that the package of candy I received on Halloween was my November package since it was the second one you sent that month. This one was a delightful surprise. I feel thoroughly spoiled. Debbie sent two packages of Burt's Bees products. One was for my hands and one was for my feet. The package for hands has Hand salve, repair creme, hand creme, Almond Milk hand creme and lemon butter cuticle creme. The package for feet has a pumice stone along with coconut foot creme and a buffing cloth. These will surely help me get thru the winter in good shape. Thank you so much Debbie for being such a wonderful pal. I have really enjoyed your letters, e mails and packages this year. i could be completely wrong but i wonder if Yume might be a girl's name, so the breeder named the hippie "Jume, Look!"

I do not mean to speak for Frank, but I think Yume mitai means "looks like a dream," and that is why he wrote "She is a real dream."

Frank, does Yume Mitai have a fragrance? Hmmm, I forget if you said you have trouble telling which are fragrant. If this is the case, might you be able to have someone who could check for you? I'm interested in getting this, so it would be nice to know if it is fragrant. May still get it though, even if it isn't fragrant. My husband really likes the look of it. Thanks!

How exciting and how beautiful...make sure you take more pictures with you regular camara when he opens all the way. How large is the flower, and how tall is the stalk if I may ask...Such a handsome devil he is, just like you..!

"Yume Mitai" is gorgeous but "Devil's Smile" TAKES THE CAKE :) It's beautiful! I can't wait to see it fully opened! Is this a Komoriya hybrid?

Yes it is a Komoriya!
But all the nice japanese always have only 2 flowers.
I had never one with more.

Frank, thanks for checking to see if Yume Mitai was scented. Sorry to hear that she isn't, but I suspected she might not be. might still get her anyway. Have to see how much the bulbs will cost. Ought to have my husband take a look at the pics of Devil's Smile, too. Thanks for sharing them.
