Lynda (lgslgs)

Lynda whose user name is lgslgs hasn't posted in a long time. There are many others I haven't seen around. Is it just the time of the year when the boards are extremely slow? PVick,silverkelt. I know some are DG subscribers but some do both garden sites.

Hi Pippi -

I usually read the new posts on the board once or twice a day.

Not much going on in my garden right now. Hubby and I have been quite busy in Oct & Nov with our annual fall leaf clean up. We are gradually cleaning up 15 acres of woodlands to remove the deep mulch on the forest floor so that the land will be able to grow more food for the animals.

I do have a new animal video up for those who want to see how Connie and the goats are doing. :)

It's the holidays and most folks are busy with family gatherings & cooking. I'm waiting for my onion-dill bread to rise. Can't tell you how exciting THAT is!! ;-) I'm also putting together seed packs for folks I'm trading with. Thanksgiving dinner isn't until 4 p.m. so I've got most of the day before I need to show up for that.

Pam, you were really paying attention on this forum last year! I'm proud of you for building that hoop house.I hope Token sees the hoop house you made and your pictures. I have a question..what type of plastic bag do you have your trays of pots in and won't a good strong wind toss those bags about? Do they have drainage holes and air circulation holes? I have 4 inch pots here and I'm running low on milk jugs and I was wondering if I planted in my 4 in. pots and put them inside a clear, Sterlite container that has drainage and air holes in it from last year, would they be okay and not dry out. Maybe somebody will pop in and give me their opinion. I placed syrofoam coffee cups and cold drink cups in those same sterlite containers last year and after the 55 in. of snow melted, it made the back yard so muddy that I couldn't get out there to check on the cups and they dried up.

Wow, unexpected "win" for zone 5! It looked we weren't going to pull it off with zone 6 (+Lynda) having such impressive numbers, but apparently we pulled ahead at the end. Thanks for your hard work Seedmama, great job on the stats - with some interesting results. My total was 112 containers, beating out the average in my zone, and more importantly, qualifying for the "Mile high club". :)

We had a great time when Floodie & her family visited. We wandered around the garden with a digging fork and made her a nice take home goodie bag. Hooray, now I have a couple of empty spots in the garden to plant more. :) Her kids are budding gardeners too. They are great at being careful in the garden, are genuinely interested in plants and are busy seed savers. They had fun harvesting seed off of the Touch Me Nots (balsam impatiens). Floodie's camera batteries ran low early on, so I've taken some photos of what was in bloom during her visit. The link takes you to a slide show of them. And true to her name, Floodie even brought us some much needed rain. Not a flood's worth but it was nice to not have to water that day. Fortunately the rain cooperated for the most part. You've probably seen the photos of her vacation hiking. Well, after that hike we hiked them all up to the top of our hill. Hi Lynda,
I was also wondering how you are, good to hear from you.Seems like Connie and your other buddies, are very interested in your camara,fun to see.
Looks like they have not come any closer to your home with the land clearing,are they all finished logging now?
Say Hi, once in awhile, so we know you are ok.

Another one who has not posted is Mary,notacontesta,I think that is her screen name, any one know how she is?

Yes, the logging did not get any closer - thank goodness. The woods directly across from us we not clear cut. Hooray!
