Yes, absolutely! Let's not talk about when he shorted out most of our house and fried the VCR a few weeks ago when he replaced the sensor in an outdoor light ("I couldn't find anything to connect the ground wire to, so I didn't"). Well, we have/had mice. Trapped 3 so far, but no activity since Friday morning, so that's a good sign. Spent Friday night cleaning the pantry, replacing shelf liner, etc. Also found an imploded can of artichoke hearts that had created nice, colorful, moldy "science experiment" on a lower shelf. DH says boy, we know how to live - cleaning on a Friday night. Bonus is that now I know exactly what's in the pantry. Anyhow, he did seal that hole (not a great job, but I'm not complaining). We have another possible hole where the gas line goes through the basement floor into the kitchen wall behind the stove, that may possibly be accessible from the attic, but I defy any mouse to try it. Will keep some traps on the I beam for a while. Next project will be cleaning the garage; DH finally bought a big rubbermaid container for the bird seed. DH is extremely chagrined, always thought "only filthy houses" attract mice and our is generally clean and clutter-free. (Except the garage; only one car, and I can park in there, but the wall space is packed.) I keep telling him it's just that time of year! Thanks for the thoughts and advice. Good luck to you. Speaking of lying in a casket with "all the good stuff" piled around you....one of my favorite possessions is an old concrete water trough that my husband moved here for me from our old place, which had been a dairy. Not exactly an easy feat, mind you. It is just over 10' long and 3 1/2' wide and has 8" thick sides. I love that old trough...was poured with boards for a mold and you can see the faint outline of the wood grain in it, and whoever did it, did a great job and beveled the edge. It is poured with finely crushed oyster shell and green moss grows on it. I go out and lovingly stroke it and splash water onto the moss. Of all my junk, I think I love it the most. I had told my husband I didn't want to be buried when I died...unless I could be buried here on the place. I'm just too "queer", as my mother said about me, to go in a cemetary with all those other people...so I told him, put me in the trough and then pour a layer of concrete over me, and put the waterlilies and water back in. A second idea...put me in the trough, and pile in as much of my old junk as you can, and pour in concrete. Top off with my hundreds of old marbles. What a lovely tomb that would be! :))

I'm not even 5' tall... In my last kitchen when the kids were little, I made a peninsula that was table height - 30 or 31" that the high chair fit under - along w/ 4 chairs - and it was perfect for rolling and decorating cookies, making pizza, etc. Also would do most of my prep there. Now with teen aged kids I put in a 36" peninsula - but I lowered one side of my kitchen counter with the stovetop to 32" so I have lower workspace to cut, chop, prep, etc. I had a similar issue w/ the microwave - ended up w/ the KA oven/microwave combo - which I had mounted fairly low and above that will be vertical storage for baking pans, broiler pan, etc. Also had my upper cabinets at 16" above (regular 36") counter top (vs. usual 18") - but now I'm thinking I could have even lowered them to 15" b/c on the cooktop wall there is an additional 4" of space (to accommodate the Kerug, etc.) Hope this helps.
