How have I never checked Craigslist? I freaking love Craigslist. Like I need anymore bulbs....but Elvas are calling my name. I might have to call this dude. I bought a healthy San Remo tonight at the farmers market that had two well established scapes and a dodgey looking Minerva (like we need one more Minerva) from Home Depot. Oh, and THEN I have 8 bulbs coming from Van Engelen tomorrow. Ben says I'm done for a while :-( What a hater. lol

If you do speak to him, please ask if he'll mail bulbs-- I emailed him but no response yet. He has double picotee listed and I would love to have one.

I have an Elvas and it is amazing.

When we moved to our new place, I Craigslisted a ton of things-- we made a killing AND made our manual labor a lot less ;o)

Can do, Captain. If anything I'm persistent. If we both try, I'm sure something will come of it. I was just in Denver in March. Lovely! My best friends just moved there. Like I said in the other thread....stupid stupid airport.

LOL Well...Denver International, or DIA, certainly has its issues; however, I do like it better than most in our country. And as a pilot I can tell you their controllers are TOP notch here in Denver. As for the actual airport-- just today the "train" that shuttles you to the various concourses broke down-- keeping people from getting to Gates B and C (B is all United, our biggest carrier-- so pandemonium everywhere!).

The airport is very clean, though.

And as for Denver in general-- its a great place to live-- I'm so glad I married a native!

Captain "pilot" Ryan. Oh, crud. Now that I know you are a pilot I must tell you how much I love and miss the Denver airport. I had many a wonderful time there. I traveled alone (stupidly) from Kansas City to Denver with a 3mo old baby in March. He was "that baby" on the plane. Coming home, I was told to go to another place to check in, then THAT place sent me back to where I came from, then the ORIGINAL place told me that I was 3 minutes past check-in time and I would not be allowed on the plane.
That's when I had trouble deciding on crying or ripping her face off. I kinda jiggled Kemper in his baby carrier and said to her, "Really?" She didn't like me, I guess. Informing them that THEY were the problem didn't go very far either. Kemp and I then hung out in the WONDERFUL scenic Denver airport for 3 hours-ish.
I was on stand-by and pretty much bribed the dude to let me on that plane. Yeah. I used the baby. I'm not proud, but eh. What can ya do? lol Bad news about the train, dude. There were some real characters aboard on my trip. When I fly, ALL the crazies come out of the woodwork.
So, yeah. You work there? GREAT airport. I always stick my foot RIGHT there in my mouth. Ugh! hahahaha
My craigslist isn't letting me email him. I'm calling him tomorrow. Hey, did you notice that the guy's name is "Tony?" Since when did the mafia start using flowering bulbs as a front? Am I going to need a track suit?

Off the subject completely, but I couldn't resist.... Larissa, you CRACK me up! The comment on the other thread about the deer having fun at Jodi's wedding...made me laugh out loud. I had to scroll back because I didn't even see the deer the first time and had no idea what u were talking about...LOL Keep the clever insight coming my friend!

Having never flown in anything larger than a Cessna, I can't comment on airports... although, I've shipped enough puppies in my day to know that many employees of airports are completely without common sense! I miss the days of counter to counter, pick up and drop off!

The wedding ceremony and reception were at the local Sportsman's Club. I didn't even notice the deer heads, to be honest. Those photos were about all that survived the fire... I lost the bouquets, the veil, and all the great video we had of the wedding and reception. Larry recently found those photos stuffed in a box of memories... books and file folders, documents, etc...

I will say one thing about those photos on Craigslist... they look really familiar, as in, I've seen them on eBay. So, buyer beware is right!

Yes-- as it turns out the man who is selling these is also a power seller on eBay. Though one must still be careful with such purchases, being a power seller says something to the integrity of the seller. I don't know how big or healthy these bulbs are, but I'm inclined to believe they are just fine.

Tony, the man selling these bulbs, does ship all over the US-- so if you're interested, click on the link above. I believe he's selling them at $8/bulb.

I hope i'm not infringing upon any policies on this forum-- I neither support nor take away from this man and his business-- only that it seems he's in need of unloading a lot of bulbs. Worth a shot, I'd say.

ps...coincidentally, I've bought bulbs and plants off ebay several time before and have never had any issues with it-- any one else?

I've successfully bought several plant and bulb items through eBay... never had a problem! I only use PayPal, so both myself, the buyer, and the seller are protected. I've never bought from that particular seller, but I find eBay a very good place to shop for plants that can't be found locally!

Most of my extended family (an aunt and 4 of her children and other cousins from the other side of the family) all live in and around Denver so I know DIA like the back of my hand. It is also one of my favorite airports in the US. I can proudly boast of spending time in each of our 50 US stats and I've seen plenty of airports!!

I think I'm going to go ahead and give this guy a try after my VE shipment comes in. I have to assess my "room" situation. lol

$8 a bulb with such a large variety sounds almost too good to be true! One question, though: How much does the shipping cost? If the total cost is reasonable, I might just try to order a bulb or two....

Have You guys tried Amaryllis.com??? i get my bulbs from them and ive not been dissapointed yet! so maybe you will like it here too!

I use amaryllis.com also and am usually very pleased. I asked my kids for amaryllis bulbs for Christmas and received an early gift last week from amaryllis.com. I called and told them that 2 of the bulbs had rot but that I was going to try to save them (don't like to waste) but wanted to document just in case. They are so nice. I think at least one of the 2 will be fine and have every confidence that if not, I will get replacements.

I just checked Amaryllis.com, and the prices seem reasonable--$12 for basic "Giant Amaryllis" bulbs, $15 for double amaryllises, and no single bulbs over $20. However, there is one problem: Shipping costs $8 for an under-$20 order, and it jumps to $10 for orders of $20-$50. This means that one double amaryllis would cost $23, which is a bit too much for me. It may be worth it if they had a wider variety, since the bulb I'm after, "Double Dragon," isn't there.

I tried to e-mail the guy offering the $8 bulbs on CraigsList, but all I got back was an automated "message undeliverable" message....

Well, it's been a full month since the last posting to this thread. Has anyone found anything out about this offer? The link now leads to a page that says the posting's expired. . . .

I never went further with this source as I have no room left for plants. As far as I know he was successfully selling bulbs on eBay. All ads on craigslist expire after 45 days.
