Kalanchoe daigremontiana question...

LivingInOz

I was given a kalanchoe daigremontiana plant last summer. I don't know much about succulents, so I don't know if my plant is doing well. It grew very tall (long) and floppy so I staked it. It's growing in a small pot with lots of sand in the mix that drains well. It's in a south facing window. The top leaves are curling inwards at the leaf margins and it has aerial roots all along the main stem, but no babies on the leaves. Are these kolanchoes always so leggy? Why are the top leaves curling? and Can I cut the top part off and get new starts from the stems with the aerial roots or is that a bad idea? Thanks for your help!
