First Cecropia/Second Luna

My first cecropia moth of the season emerged today! It's the strangest thing, I can't find the cocoon he came out of - I can't find an opening in a cecropia cocoon, and I can't find a cocoon with liquid around it. This happens frequently, me not being able to find the source of the moth! All my cecropias spun their cocoons in July, according to the tags I put on them, so for a once a year moth, it's about the right time for them to emerge or maybe a bit early. He's SO huge - I put a ruler as close to him as I could get, and he's a little over 6" across, a real big dude! Here's his picture -

My second luna moth emerged this afternoon, another male. I didn't make his picture, because he looks just like the other ones, with the springtime burgundy edging on his beautiful wings.

I'll be letting them both out tonight - 'hope there's a female out there for each of them!
