Lol, I'll take a ham salad sandwich. We are eating leftovers. I came home and sprayed raid. I have to cut more leaves tomorrow. Its too cold outside to work in there with the door open now.

It's a whopping 10F with the wind chill here. Yesterday was in the 50's! I hate the cold! I made braised veal loin chops with garlic and rosemary. It was delicious, of course the kids weren't thrilled. lol I was surprised to see that my rosemary plants were in bloom when I went outside to cut it.

Ham salad sounds great and alot healither than what I cooked.

Believe it or not, its even cold here today and tommorrow, with the wind chill feels like 20's which is very cold for us, feel embarrassed even mentioning it with what some of you have to put up with.

He hates the whole eat like a king at breakfast, a prince a lunch, and a pauper at dinner. He just shake his head every time I suggest that regime. (grin) Kept my weight under control for YEARS using those rules. Now - not so good. (grin)

I love to cook and make some sort of meat, poultry or seafood most nights. I just hate to bake, bread anyway. I love the smell and the taste but I don't have the patience for it. I'm surprised that I don't have sky high cholesterol and triglycerides. I eat red meat at least 3 times a week and I don't bother with the lean crap. I go for the really well marbled stuff. lol I won't even buy ground beef. I buy a roast and have the butcher grind a little extra fat into it. My GP would have a fit if she knew.

I dont always like what mine is cooking and he says I am picky as heck, but I have to admit I rarely cook anymore. He made the entire Christmas dinner and told me I was being picky because he didn't plan to make stuffing, said potatoes were enough............in the end we also had stuffing!!

regarding red meat: I got away from that in Ca. But my guy, he's a red meat and potatoes man all the way. It's killing me. (grin) He likes the black angus ground stuff and complains when I come home with "lean" ground. Oh come on - can we at least PRETEND we're watching our cholesterol? (grin)

I do like to cook - but I can't ever make it look like the picture.

I bought a thermador range now. Had it installed in my tiny house. And he loves using it. When I bought it - he bellowed about the cost - what a waste of money, etc. Now you can't get him away from it. LOL. . .I got him a stainless grill, and he would rather use the griddle on the range. (grin) Or he swaps in the grill in the center.

Beautiful stainless grill sits outside orphaned. (grin)

Love my range - the "jet engine" of ranges. Two large 14 x 16, 4" deep cold potato dishes - doesn't even knock it down! Takes 5 minutes to come up to temp. . . .just love this range.

Mary - oh how could he not have stuffing! My heart would stop! My guy loves potatoes - I cant' figure out why guys give up the real estate in their stomachs for potatoes - but I'd never let him get by me without stuffing. LOL. . .

I take the RAW potatoes and I slice them ALMOST all the way through.

Ok, ya know the dipping oils for bread? garlic or basil?

Take an onion - red is nice - white makes for a nice punch - and slice the onion - put the slices of onion into the slices you made in the potato. Can also use the egyptian walking onions which is like a green onion on steroids.

NOW - pour that funky flavored oil you like (or - it could even be zesty italian dressing from Kraft if you want) and wrap those babies up in tin foil and cook as normal.

Bacon is terrific also or a proscuitto.

Yummm. .. if you're looking to zip up those boring potatoes the guys make you eat.

ohhhh those sound Yummmmy, the more onions the better in my book. I will have to try those the next time I cook LOL.

I told my girls (they are 16 and 14) about the stuffing so when we sat down to eat we made a really huge deal over the stuffing and that was the one food that defined Christmas for us. It was too funny. I think he got the hint to not try that again.

I made stuffing on Xmas. But, had roasted turkey gravy. (didn't feel like making the ham gravy with the base stuff I had.) sooooooooo. . .for ythe stuffing - sauteed some celery, some onions, added some vegetable slices - used a mild broth, added the other stove top stuff. . and vioa-la.

And he gave it all away to the guests as leftovers. ROTF! But - I can recreate it.

I'm just not a "potato" person.

Here's another kewel thing for steaks or roasts on the grill - take a white onion - cut both ends off (sprout ends) and then, push just the very center out. Now - stuff the center with a BULLION cube - chicken for chicken, beef for. .. you get the drift.) and a slab of butter or margarine and some olive oil. Wrap the whole thing in tin foil and grill with your potatoes.

Amazing. .. especially on camp trips when you're coooking over a camp fire. Easy to hike in and nothing to hike out. Can wrap a slice of bacon on the onion too if you want.

Very easy and something fun/interesting for everyone.

Or take an entire head of garlic - snip the tops off - pour olive oil over the entire thing - wrap it in tin foil (tented) - bake for an 1 1/2 hour at 350, take it out - and squeeze the garlic cloves like tubes of toothpaste onto slices of italian bread and spread with triple cream brie that's been nuked for 3 minutes with a slab of butter. . .

Oh boy - hold the main course - THAT one with some fun white wine - an entire main course - go right to the dessert!

Garlic!!!! Now yur talking. My ex thought I cooked with way too much garlic. I didnt think that was possible.

I love garlic - stimulates the immune system also.

I have marinated garlic, roasted garlic, and regular "chopped" garlic and fresh garlic. LOL.. .

If you want the baked garlic - make sure it's a fresh head. the older ones - they get shriveled and icky and brown/chewy.

Here's how indescrimanate I am - I use my cleaver. WHACK! The entire top of the head comes off. I make 3 at a time.

Drizzel with the olive oil - piece of tin foil on the bottom brought up above - roll from the top to tent (like a steaming room) and bake it.

Oh Mary - pluck the garlic cloves off *yea - yer gonna get greasy) and squeeze them on fresh sliced italian bread - spread it and then slap the ooey gooey melted brie on it. . .

There's absolutely NOTHING healthy about that dish - but if you're drinking a fun wine with friends - WHO CARES!

Bon apetite - guaranteed. (very evil delicious grin)

Too much garlic? No way! I make home made Double Garlic Italian Bread, garlic in it & in the butter that goes on it. While it's still warm from the oven. My specialty is Cinnamon Pecan Sticky Buns (sometimes with honey). Another one best served warm, it microwaves beautifully. I can cook most anything. I put 40 lbs on my husband the first year we were together. I keep threatening to trade bread for brugs. I can ship overnight. LOL

Oh, you girls are making me hungry. I went to the grocery store tonight so we had rotiserie chicken from there. Good excuse to save the container for winter sowing, lol. Tomorrow I will make beef stroganoff with wine and mushroom sauce to make up the last couple of nights, lol. I can cook really good but its not as much fun to cook for just the 2 of us and I have gained a lot of weight from my hubby trying to make me eat all the time. His favorite is rice. If he doesn't have it at least once a day he thinks the world is ending. On weekends he eats it breakfast lunch and dinner. I actually miss potatoes, lol. I bought me a couple to bake for myself and load them with butter sour cream, cheese and bacon bits. Look out arteries, lol. Can you overnight me some of those sticky buns, lol. Make a great midnight snack.

OMG I think I just gained like 10 lbs reading this thread! That's it! I'm gonna order out pizza and wings tomorrow! I wonder if there's a Phx Suns game on...that would be so sweet! Getting some brewskys too.
OMG someone said popeyes!! Cr@p, I haven't had that in soo long, they only have a stupid kfc here, no popeyes...I love the cajun shrimp and rice they used to have at the ones in LA!!! Also miss those drive-thru-daquari joints they used to have there (F4F u know what I'm talkin about right? LOL)

Shoot we even have the drive thru daquari's here at the Beer Barn, lol. The one in the next town over is better. They have once called a mudslide that is great. Our Popeyes here doesn't have all the cajun stuff though.
