Krys, I just saw your question from October. This is a Tillandsia cyanea. Cyanea means 'blue' from the coloration of the flowers which are formed on the pink paddle. It is also called Pink Quill because of the pink bracts. T. cyanea likes high humidity, bright light, and good air circulation. You don't have to grow it in a pot. It will grow well mounted on a piece of wood but will need to be misted regularly. If it is still happy the way you have it planted keep it like that but don't overwater the roots themselves. I thought the first one was a butzii - but got all my other guesses wrong lol :) My guess was 1)butzii 2)? 3)pseudobaileyi 4)gardneri or geminiflora 5)fuchsii But then I have no idea which ones are rarer and more unlikely to be in my possession :) So the ionantha leaves turn red when it's getting ready to flower, or are there different ionanthas? Picking out unlabelled tillandsias at random when they're not in flower must be a form of gambling! There were a couple more that I didn't get, one I suspect was mitlaensis and the other I have no idea but it looked like chives.

I agree to that gonzer. I think a good bunch of tillandsia look like generic monadelpha or capitata types. They're just a spikey mass of stiff leaf rosettes or soft leaf rosettes. Recently I find myself searching for more of the oddballs like intermedia types or just weird stuff like flexuosa or mima that looks perpetually dead or hildae which i'm still searching for. And what would i do to own a specimen of Denis' variegated caput medusae! Although I suppose a photo of it would be good enough for now. Variegated xeric tillandsia are just exciting but impossible to find. Yes, variegated cyanea are still nice but they look like variegated guzmania lingulatas which belong in the vegetable patch... Hah...
