Hallo

I have a question. I am a private collector of Amaryllidaceae. Now I am searching Amaryllis hybrids , special cybister ones.

Further I am searching Hippeastrum species.

Who can help me, and perhaps you know also other private collectors in your area.

I have also a nice collection, perhaps we can exchange.

I hope some one can help me, please?

Dan, In all reality you're probably right, there are some differences that aren't totally noticeable unless you grow the two side by side and I think they could just be clonal differences. I don't want to doubt the botanists and others that have been working on the genera but I have my doubts as well, the point is the plant will probably end up being Hippeastrum puniceum var ferreyrae but to me this plant is just as important as when it was labeled H. ferreyrae considering the location and the fact it is different from other H. puniceum. H. puniceum var. alba for example is very rare and incredible, sadly it's hard to find in cultivation but I'm sure you guessed that it is a white form of H. puniceum. As for the Peru trip, they had many, MANY problems and my friend had to end up staying several extra weeks. It was very hectic on them and the other trip was rescheduled for a future time. Josh

Hi Josh, Yup..looks just like mine did...I though maybe they'd be a bit different... the same right down to the speckled tongue!! I hope you got a change to at least self it since Rebel sets great seedpods..I have about 15 or so from my selfing that survived and are doing very well. I only had one stalk and only two flowers though..hope you got 4 flowers..Thanks for posting, I was dying to see another one! Donna

Hi Tancik10. I would rather exchange seed if possible. I will keep your request if I do not get any seed exchange offers albeit I have no idea what these seed are worth. Last year I sent seed all over the world in the hope of getting seed in exchange but apart from someone in New Zealand who sent me some clivia seed of interest, I got nothing else. Lots of promises from people who should by now have made good their promises.

I'll need to get the Sprekelia moved over to something that gives their roots some room to dive deeper. Thanks for the advice! *smile* I haven't seen pots made from coconut husks. We can get coconut-based baskets and on one occasion I saw a long window planter... but I've never seen pots. I'll look around for them! I do use coconut husk chips and coconut coir in a lot of medium mixes for orchids and for hippeastrum. All of my cymbidium orchids are potted in a medium that is mostly coconut husk chips.
